CONNECTION OF TWO ADDITIONAL
You only need the "PRE OUT" sockets (14) if you want to use a separate stereo amplifier or two mono
amplifiers to supply two additional loudspeakers. This makes sense if you intend to use two more
loudspeakers for stereo music playback, for example in a separate zone (another room of your home).
These loudspeakers are then connected to the speaker outputs of the additional amplifier(s). The ampli-
fier output connections "PRE OUT" (14) must be connected with the input connectors of the main ampli-
fier, in most cases labelled "INPUT", "POWER AMP IN" or "MAIN INPUT".
Instead of the stereo main amplifier shown here you can alternatively use two mono main amplifiers.
The output level is independent from the position of the speaker switch (4) and the plugging-in of the
headphones (10).
CONNECTION OF A STEREO PREAMPLIFIER OR THE FRONT
CHANNELS OF A MULTI-CHANNEL SYSTEM
This stereo amplifier is equipped with a main amplifier input („S6"), also known as „unity gain input"
(17). The input signals will bypass the internal preamplifier stage and are treated as preamplifier output
signals. That is why this amplifier can be connected tot he output signal of a preamplifier or the front
channels of a multi channel system (A/V receiver or A/V preamplifier). The volume control and muting
can't be achieved ath the SV-228 when using the input „S6". These functions must be operated at the
device connected to this input.
If the input „S6" has been selected, the amplifier SV-228 acts like a stereo power amplifier. Please leave
this input „S6" unused if you don't wish to use the SV-228 just as a power amplifier.
