• Thread the release cord through the plastic tube and metal fastener.
• Thread the release cord through the central hole in the knee and
again through the metal fastener.
• Shorten the release cord to the length that suits the user and make
sure that the release cord is slightly tensed.
• Crimp the fastener by pliers or pinch the centre with a punch and
mallet.
• Secure the plastic tube to the socket with a small amount of super
glue or other means of preference
TO ASSEMBLE THE RELEASE CORD ON THE LATERAL SIDE OF THE
PROSTHESIS, FOLLOW SAME INSTRUCTIONS AS FOR ANTERIOR SIDE
EXCEPT:
• When running the cord through the central hole in the knee, use the
crimp.

• Please ensure that the release cord is not impaired by the cosmetic
cover, so the cord can move freely without friction.
• Bench, statically and Dynamically align the prosthesis to the user
Further adjustments of the knee joint are not necessary.
MAINTENANCE
Biannual inspection
In order to guarantee perfect functioning, the Össur locking knee must
be checked at least every 6 months with regards to the following:
• Assembly
• Secure locking of the locking mechanism
• Release of the locking mechanism
• Damage or wear and tear of the joint, release cord and screwed
connections
• Any increase in weight of the patient (weight limit)
• Dirt in the knee joint
The joint must also be inspected when it has been subjected to
extraordinary load (e. g. a fall).
Cleaning
Clean the joint with a soft cloth and some benzine. Do not use
compressed air or aggressive cleansing agents.
Use of lubricants
Lubricate the joint at least every 6 months with general purpose oil (3-1).
Flex the knee joint. Place few drops of oil on the joint. Move the knee
several times and wipe off excessive oil with a soft cloth.
