15. Make sure that the power cord does not hang over the
edge of the countertop or table, since this can cause
accidents, for example if small children pull on the
cord.
16. Route the power cord so that there is no possibility of
the cord being pulled or tripped over.
17. Never wrap the power cord around the appliance;
instead, use the power cord storage compartment on
the bottom of the base.
18. Use the electric kettle only indoors.
19. Use the appliance only for heating water. Do not use
it to heat milk or other liquids, since they will boil
over when heated.
20. Never heat objects such as cans or bottles in the elec-
tric kettle.
21. Make sure that the lid of the appliance is always com-
pletely closed, to prevent injuries from hot splashing
water.
22. Do not open the lid as long as the water is boiling, to
prevent injuries from hot splashing water.
23. Never switch on the appliance if there is no water in
the kettle.
24. Make sure that all users, especially children, are
aware of the danger of injury from emerging steam or
hot splashing water – danger of burns!
25. Never fill the appliance with more than 1.5 liters of
water, to prevent the water from boiling over.
26. Do not move the appliance as long as it is in opera-
tion, to prevent burns from splashing water.
27. The electric kettle features boil dry protection, which
means the appliance shuts off automatically if the
heating element becomes too hot. Allow the appli-
ance to cool about 15 minutes. Then fill the electric
kettle with cold water. The boil dry protection is deac-
tivated and the appliance is ready for operation again.
