Intended Use
The voltage presence detectors of the ProLine P50000 product line detect
voltages on rail vehicles or in railway substations and industrial plants.
When a switching threshold is exceeded, they trigger a solid state relay and
also display the state on the device via LED. Multi-range devices provide up
to 10 pre-defined threshold values which can be selected via rotary switch.
The input signal is received, processed, and galvanically isolated by the
voltage presence detector. For further processing, the output signal is fed
into a controller or a safety device. If a larger load needs to be switched,
the output can activate a relay or contactor.
The voltage presence detectors are intended to be installed in enclosures.
The ambient conditions in the enclosure must comply with the specifica-
tions given for the voltage presence detectors.
The voltage presence detectors may be installed in underfloor and roof
containers, and in the engine rooms of rolling stock.
Inside rolling stock, the voltage presence detectors must be installed in
closed and fire-protected enclosures (see page 49 for details on installa-
tion). The input may be directly connected to primary circuits (high
potentials).
Only operate the voltage presence detector as follows:
• in accordance with the intended use
• within the limits in the technical specifications

Typical Areas of Application
