41. Repeater

General

41.1
A repeater is used to relay and amplify the signal between the SmartControl
accessories (sensor or button) and Gateway as necessary. This may be
required when an accessory has been placed far away from Gateway and/or
it is in a place where thick walls absorb the transmitter signal.
The repeater is connected to a wall socket via the supplied power supply.
41.2

Installation

• Unscrew the cover on the repeater by turning the four locking screws a
quarter turn anti-clockwise to access the terminal block for connection
to the power supply.
• Remove the cover and connect the wires from the power supply to the
repeater terminal block. See fi gure.
• Mount the repeater on a fl at wall surface using screws.
• Attach the cover using the four screws.
• Connect to the wall socket.
The antenna base is magnetic and can be placed on a metallic surface
(alternatively, affi x it using double-sided tape) where good reception to
Gateway and transmitting devices can be ensured.
41.3

First start

The repeater does not need to be defi ned and connects automatically to the
wireless network once it has been powered up.
The repeater relays the sensor signal only if the distance between the sensor
and Gateway is so large that the signal cannot be recognised by Gateway.
When the repeater is used, it is the signal strength between the repeater
and Gateway that is shown in the Defi ne menu in the display (not the signal
strength between the sensor and Gateway as before).
