DR Railbus Set
THE PROTOTYPE
Many passenger routes are too
short or too lightly traveled to sup-
port a locomotive-powered pas-
senger train. For these routes,
often a railbus is the best solution
- a passenger coach with its own
motor and controls. Railbuses
often were used with an additio-
nal unpowered car to increase
capacity. On some lines, one or
two freight cars were added to the
consist to make a short mixed
train.

OPERATION
Preparation
Connecting wiring cable bet-
ween the railbus and trailer
Plug the enclosed cable into the
multi-purpose sockets of railbus
and trailer (for further information,
see Lighting).
Operating Modes
Railbus:
This model has a four-way power
control switch mounted under the
floor of the railbus (Fig. 1, 2):
Position 0: All power off
Position 1: Power to lights
Position 2: Power to lights and
motor
Position 3: Same as 2, but without
taillights (factory pre-
set)
Trailer:
This model has a four-way power
control switch mounted under the
floor of the trailer (Fig. 1, 3):
Position 0: All power off
Position 1: Power to lights (factory
pre-set)
Position 2: Same as 1
Position 3: Same as 1, but without
taillights
Multi-Train System
The railbus has a direct decoder
interface. For Multi-Train System
operation, it can be equipped with
one LGB MTS Decoder (55020).
The MTS Decoder Interface
Cable (55026) is not required.
The trailer does not require a
decoder. When operating with the
Multi-Train System, interior and
tail lights operate regardless of
the direction of travel.
We strongly recommend decoder
installation by an LGB service
station. For more information,
contact your authorized LGB
retailer or an LGB service station
(see Authorized Service).
Hint: If this model is equipped
with a decoder, the digital/analog
DIP switches on the loco circuit
board must be set to OFF. The
DIP switches should remain in
this setting, even if the model is
used on an analog layout.
Lighting
This model features directional
lighting. The model has "flat"
multi-purpose sockets, with remo-
vable covers, on the front and rear
walls of both railbus and trailer
