6. OPERATION
6.1. BEFORE USE
Visual inspection before use
Check the pressure regulator and cylinder for visible damage (including

labels and markings). If it is damaged, remove the product from service
and appropriately identify its status.
Visually check the pressure regulator or medical gas cylinder for contami-

nation; if necessary, clean it using the cleaning procedure detailed hereaf-
ter in this document (if a gas cylinder is contaminated, proceed according
to the recommended cleaning procedure in the cylinder manufacturer's
instructions).
Check whether or not a service date or the total life time of the GCE product
3.
and the gas cylinder have been exceeded (according to the data encoding
system of the owner or of GCE). If the service date or total life time have
been exceeded, remove the pressure regulator (or cylinder) from service
& suitably identify its status.
Ensure that the product inlet stem is compatible with the medical gas cyl-

inder (gas/ thread type).
Check the presence & the integrity of seals of the inlet stem / correct size
5.
of the seals.
The product is intended for use only with the gas specified on its label.
Never try to use it for another gas.
FITTING TO THE MEDICAL CYLINDER VALVE
•
Secure the gas cylinder in a safe position.
Screw connection (a type with male or female thread)
•
Manually screw the thread into the cylinder valve connector.
•
Turn the regulator into the correct position for use and tighten the nut by
hand - do not use tools.
Yoke connection
•
Put the yoke on the cylinder connector, adjust connector pins against the
holes on the cylinder valve.
•
Press the pins of the inlet stem into the holes on the cylinder valve – do not
use force as the pins or holes may get damaged.
•
Firmly screw the pressure regulator using the T-screw of the yoke to the
cylinder valve. Do not use any tools.
•
Position the cylinder with the regulator in such a way so that the regulator's
user outlets point away from personnel.
Fitting the regulator to the cylinder valve with too high torque may result
in damage.
