B - Inlet-pressure indicator or sensor
The regulator is equipped with or pressure indicator or sensor, which is only
designed for amount of gas in the cylinder; it is not intended for measuring
purposes.
The pressure indicator or sensor may be equipped with an electric signal
EN
output.
The pressure indicator or sensor may only be connected to the electric signal
output by a person trained in accordance with national regulations concern-
ing electrical equipment and EN ISO 7396-1.
The electric signal output may only be connected to equipment that conforms
to EN ISO 60601-1 and 60601-1-2.
C, D, E – Flow metering device and flow outlet
The regulators may be supplied with a flow metering device – flow control
head "C" or flow meter "D". This function is used for dosing gas (l/min) at at-
mospheric pressure directly to the patient via the flow outlet "E", e.g. through
a cannula or mask.
The flow outlet "E" may comprise a hose adapter (for a cannula or mask) or a
threaded outlet (for a humidifier).
F - Pressure outlet
The regulator may be fitted with a pressure outlet. The pressure outlet is a
direct outlet from the low-pressure chamber. Two types of pressure outlet
may be used:
Pressure outlet I – is fitted with a specific medical quick-coupling device, also
called a "quick-coupler". The user can connect additional devices to this out-
let by means of an adapter specific for the gas concerned. When the adapter
is disconnected, the quick-coupler fits tightly on its own. This outlet is de-
signed for the supply of gas with a controlled pressure to power
medical devices, e.g. medical ventilator.
Pressure outlet II – The pressure outlet is fitted with a threaded connector.
Regulators with this type of pressure outlet must only be an integral part of a
medical unit (e.g. emergency ventilator, anaesthesia device, etc.).
If the pressure regulator has two pressure outlets, do not use both of them
at the same time. If you use both of them at the same time, the performance
of the pressure regulator will not conform to the specification (see Appendix
No.1)!!!
Note: The product colour (especially the flow head control knob) does not
need to match the colour coding of the gas.
