OPERATION
INSTALLING HEAD
See Figure 1, page 9.
 Remove the battery pack from the power base or
disconnect from power supply.
 Place the head on the power base and push until the
latches click into position. You may need to slightly rotate
the collet to allow the head to seat fully. Pull on the head
to make sure it is securely installed before proceeding.
NOTE: The head can be installed at 180° angles to best
suit your application needs.
NOTICE:
To prevent damage to the spindle or spindle lock,
always allow motor to come to a complete stop
before engaging the spindle lock.
INSTALLING ACCESSORIES
See Figures 2 - 3, page 9.
NOTE: To increase your leverage, attach the head to the
power base while changing accessories.
 Remove the battery pack from the power base or
disconnect from power supply.
 Lift the shoe release lever and remove the shoe from the
head.
 Press and hold the spindle lock, and rotate the shaft by
hand until the spindle lock engages the shaft, preventing
further rotation.
 With the spindle lock engaged, use the wrench on the
shoe to loosen the collet nut.
 Insert the shank of the accessory into the collet until the
shank bottoms out, then pull it out 1/16 in. to allow for
expansion when the accessory gets hot.
 With the spindle lock engaged, tighten the collet nut with
the wrench until the accessory shank is gripped by the
collet. Avoid excess tightening of the collet nut.
 Reinstall shoe and lower shoe release lever to secure.
USING MANDREL
See Figures 4 - 6, page 9.
The standard mandrel provided is used with cut-off discs,
grinding wheels, emery wheels, and cut-off wheels. Other
mandrels and accessories (not provided) which may be used
with this tool include screw mandrels (used with polishing
wheels and polishing drums) and drum mandrels (used with
sanding drums).
To use the standard mandrel provided:
 Remove the battery pack from the power base or
disconnect from power supply.
 Install the mandrel as described in Installing Accessories.
 Lift the shoe release lever and remove the shoe from the
head.
 Press and hold the spindle lock.
 Insert the slot end of the wrench on the shoe into the slot
on top of the mandrel and unscrew.
 Remove mandrel screw and one washer.
 Place desired accessory over mandrel shaft and remaining
washer; align accessory hole with mandrel hole.
 Insert previously removed mandrel screw with washer
through the accessory and mandrel shaft holes and
tighten securely.
NOTE: The washer should be placed between the
mandrel screw and the accessory.
 Reinstall shoe and lower the shoe release lever to secure.
NOTE: If the size of the accessory prevents reinstalling
the shoe, lower the shoe release lever and set the shoe
aside. When the job is complete, remove the accessory
and reinstall the shoe before storing.
BALANCING ACCESSORIES
For precision work, it is important that all accessories be
properly balanced. To balance an accessory, slightly loosen
the collet nut and give the accessory or collet a 1/4 in. turn.
You should be able to tell by the sound and feel if the
accessory is running in balance. Continue adjusting in
this fashion until the best balance is achieved. Replace
accessories if they become damaged or unbalanced.
