Treatment of unlacquered surfaces
Unobstrusive scratchings and also pre-treated spots can be treated which should not be
lacquered later. Thereto absolutely use a clean welding shoe without scratchings.
The working steps are:
1. Grind the surface.
2. Set up the temperature which is just sufficient to fuse the surface of the plastic within
approx. 20s.
3. Put a stick with a thickness of approx. 1 mm on a material of the same kind (apply to
an unobstrusive spot of the part to be treated if necessary)
4. Press the welding top slightly onto the stick until the stick and the surface to be treated
are fused.
5. If necessary smooth the surface with the bottom side of the welding top.
6. Let the material completely cool down.
7. After the cooling down carefully rework the surface with a scraper or fine abrasive
paper until the surface gets as smooth as possible.
To achieve a lustrous surface: Carefully (Attention fire danger!) and shortly blow with hot
air unit or gas flame to fuse the abrasive spoors.
After the cooling a lustrous surface is given. Polish up if necessary.
At structured surfaces shortly press the sandpaper corresponding to the graining after
the blowing with hot air unit or gas flame onto the blowed surface.
At these workings patience and fondness of experimenting turns to your account. Plastic
fabricators which are specialised in this discipline and recreate the surfaces report that
there is hardly any difference between treated and non-treated surfaces.
Application after welding process
Pull back the power plug. Abrade the still hot welding top dry with non-fuzzing paper or
cotton cloth. Remove tough soilings with a brass wire brush. Press out the residues of the
welding wire with the resqueezing piston.
Attention: Resqueezing piston also gets hot!
Let the welding piston cool down in the air at the support. Do not quench with water!
Before packing the welding piston into the box let it completely cool down.
Abrade scratches at the bottom side of the welding top e. g. with fine-grained abrasive
paper (graining 1.000). Therefore put the abrasive paper on a smooth surface. Smoothly
abrade the cold welding top on the abrasive paper by moving the bottom side of the
welding top on the abrasive paper.

1. Clean the spot to be treated with
1K-Pur Cleaner.
2. Grind the repairing spot or
remove the paint from the
damaged spot respectively.
3. Tailor the aluminium repair fabric
and adapt it to the repairing spot.
4. Preheat the welding piston up to
approx. 280°C - 300°C. Let the
fabric and welding piston act on the
surface. Apply pressure onto the
piston for a short time.
5. Then the spot to be repaired will
be refilled and smoothed with a
Repair Stick.
6. To achieve a complete refilling
and a smooth surface of the spot to
be repaired, the Repair Stick can be
melted due to drilling across. For
this process choose a higher
temperature.
7. Now grind the spot to be treated.
Then priming and painting can be
done.
Advice: Use the Plastic Contour
Filler L205 to smooth small
unevennesses.
