felder.
- starke Erschütterungen, bzw. Schwingungen, die zum Abfall der
Relais führen (Überschreiten der Schockfestigkeit).
- Unterspannung.
- zu hohe Schaltfrequenz.
Reinigung
- Bei feuchter Reinigung: Wasser oder milde, nicht-scheuernde,
nicht-kratzende Reinigungsmittel verwenden.
- Keine aggressiven Reinigungs- oder Lösungsmittel verwenden.
Entsorgung
- Nationale, lokale und gesetzliche Bestimmungen zur Entsorgung
beachten
- Materialien getrennt dem Recycling zuführen.

Intended use
The safety sensor BZ 16 is used in safety circuits to monitor the posi-
tion of mobile safety guards to EN ISO 14119 (EN 1088). The device
shall prevent hazardous machine functions when the protective guard
is open and stop hazardous functions on opening. According to
EN ISO 14119 (EN 1088), it is an interlocking device without a locking
device (type 4). The device conforms to the EN 60947-5-3 standard. The
device is equipped with an internal monitoring function, ensuring that
each fault is detected no later than with the next switching cycle, and
that the device goes into a fail-safe state (all output relays are
switched off). In addition to the two monitored output relays, the device
is equipped with a signalling contact that indicates whether both safe
relays are switched on. A green LED on the safety sensor indicates:
»Signalling contact ON«. The output contacts are therefore not directly
monitored: this function is performed by the internal logic. The
EN 60947-5-3 standard is only met if the entire system consisting of
the safety sensor BZ 16 (with integrated evaluation) and the coded
actuator BZ 16-B1. The actuator has a low coding level.
Mounting and wiring
The electrical connection may only be carried out by authorised per-
sonnel. They must take care to prevent the accessibilty of actuators
or spare actuators due to the danger of manipulation. In addition, the
actuator must be positioned and protected in such a way as to prevent
damage caused by predictable external influence. Mount the safety
sensor and actuator on an even surface (Tightening torques see tech-
nical data). Install the actuator in such a way that the markings of the
sensor and the actuator are exactly opposite when the safety guard is
closed. The marking of the BZ 16 actuator indicates the actuating
plane. When mounting actuator and sensor, observe the requirements
of EN ISO 14119, especially paragraph 7, »Construction to reduce ma-
nipulation of interlocking devices«! For protection against manipula-
tion use oneway safety screws, riveting, etc. Wire the safety sensor ac-
cording to the specified wire colours/terminal labelling. Please use the
fuses listed as short-circuit protection in the technical data. With the
variants BZ16-03F and BZ16-03T, cables must be protected by laying
them through a cable channel, armoured conduit or similar, alterna-
tively as separate light plastic-sheathed cables, in order to prevent
faults due to short-circuiting. With the variants BZ16-12F and
BZ16-12T, monitoring of the antivalence is required. To prevent incor-
rect connection of the power supply, the device is protected against re-
verse polarity. After connecting, check whether authorised operation is
enabled by opening and closing the protective guard. If the sensor is
not working, please check the polarity of the power supply. Closing the
protective guard must not allow to start any hazardous machine func-
tions. The latter may only be triggered using a start command. The
signalling contact must not be used as a »safe contact«. It is only to be
seen as a diagnostic signal for the output relay. After a correct wiring,
open and close the safety guard to check if the enabling signal is given.
Contact symbols are shown for the guard in closed condition. Inductive
loads (e.g. contactors, relays, etc.) are to be suppressed by means of a
suitable circuit, e.g. with contactors/relays with a DC power supply by
a recovery diode antiparallel to the coil; with contactors/relays with an
AC power supply by RC-elements or varistors. Furthermore, shocks
and vibrations exceeding the parameters stipulated by standard
EN 60947-5-2 must be avoided.
N.B.
For actuation from the side, a minimum distance of s = 2 mm must be
observed between the actuator and the sensor (see figure »Approach
from side«). For safe switching-off, the minimum switching distance
s ar between actuator and sensor must be exceeded (opening gap of
the protective guard). The sensor and the actuator may be mounted
with a maximum axial misalignment of ± 3 mm. Do not use the device
as a mechanical endstop. Any mounting position is possible. For inte-
gration of the device in the entire system, strictly observe and respect
the control category determined in the risk assessment. Therefore, a
validation according to EN ISO 13849-2 or EN 62061 is necessary. Fur-
thermore, the Performance Level according to EN ISO 13849-1 and
SIL CL Level according to EN 62061 can be lower than the single level
because of the combination of several safety components and other
safety-related devices, e.g. by serial connection of sensors. It is the
responsibility of the manufacturer of a plant or machine to guarantee
the correct general function. steute does not assume any liability for
