11. Wait until the test strip symbol and drop symbol flash in the display.
12. Hold the meter so the test strip is pointing downwards.
13. Hold the tip of the test strip against the blood drop so the black
notch is touching the blood drop.
You can flag results obtained from alternate site testing as special
results with an asterisk . Please consult the instructions for use of the
meter for information on how to flag results.
14. Hold the meter over a waste bin with the test strip pointing
downwards.
15. Press the Test button to turn the meter off. The used test strip drops
out.
16. Remove the AST cap from the lancing device and dispose of the
used lancet.
Carefully dispose of used lancets so that the needles cannot
cause injury.

The test strip draws up blood.
The test starts when the test strip has drawn
up sufficient blood. The result is displayed as
soon as the test is complete. At the same
time the meter automatically saves the
result to memory.
