Eyepieces for spectacle wearers
The distance between the eyes can be changed using the twist-up eyecups on your bin-
oculars. These so-called „eyepieces for spectacle wearers" (LE eyepieces) allow spectacle
wearers a wide field of vision although the exit pupil is some distance away.
If you are wearing glasses when using the binoculars, unscrew the eyecups (2).
Adjusting the eyepiece distance
The distance between the eyes differs between individuals. To achieve perfect interaction
between your eyes and the eyepieces of your binoculars set the angle at the centre of the
binoculars (1) so that you see a circular image (11). Note this setting for later use.
Adjusting the focus
Look through your binoculars with your right eye closed. Now adjust the image for your left
eye using the centre wheel (6) until it is sharp and clear. Close your left eye and adjust the
image for your right eye using the dioptre ring (3) until it too is sharp and clear.
Note: The diopter adjustment for the porro prism
on the right, below the eyecup. For the compact
the bridge, opposite the centre focus system.
Focus Lock
P
The porro model in this series is equipped with the so-called focus-lock system (10). This
enables you to fix the focus setting by simply pressing the focus wheel in the direction of the
tripod mount (▼LOCK). This is particularly useful if you are observing a terrain at a specific
distance for a long period of time. Locking the focus setting allows you to avoid to risk of
adjusting it inadvertently. To unlock the focus setting, simply slide the focus wheel back up in
the direction of the eyepiece (▲FOCUS).
Mounting the binoculars on a tripod
Your binoculars have a threaded tripod connection (9) built in. The required tripod adapter is
available as an optional accessory (Art. No. 19-16000). With this accessory, you are able to
mount your binoculars on a tripod with a DIN mounting thread (e.g. Art. No. 49-22100).
