Caution! Over-charging the battery will reduce its life. Do not exceed the recommendations
of the battery manufacturer on recharging the battery from a mains-powered (line-powered)
source.
Battery care and maintenance
• House the battery in a suitably designed battery box, if the battery is likely to be exposed
to the weather.
• When not in use, keep the battery as fully charged as possible.
• Recharge a discharged battery as soon as possible.
• Batteries should be stored fully charged and recharged at regular intervals (every 8 weeks)
• Inspect the battery regularly to ensure that the electrolyte level does not fall below 12 mm
(½") above the surface of the battery plates (observe check marks).
• Top up the battery using distilled water. Do not overfill. Refer to the battery manufacturer's
recommendations for more information.
Battery safety
• Ensure that the battery is well ventilated when recharging.
• Avoid temperatures greater than 50 °C (120 °F).
• Ensure the battery is not exposed to naked flame or sparks.
Using a remote control handset (P4600 and P6000 only)
Note: The P4500 energiser cannot be used with a remote control handset.
The P4600/P6000 will accept commands from a remote control handset. No configuration is
required. The energiser and remote control are pre-programmed to communicate.
The remote control handset with Fence compass is three tools in one. It acts as a
• Remote control – Switching the energiser on or off from any location on the electric
fence system
• Voltmeter/Ammeter – Providing instant feedback on fence performance
(voltage and current)
• Fault finder – Assisting in the location of faults anywhere on the fence system
For detailed instructions on using the remote control handset, refer to the user manual supplied
with the handset.
Warning! The energiser will reactivate following a power failure, even if it was switched off via
remote control handset prior to the power failure. Therefore, for your safety, we recommend
that you deactivate the isolated section with a cut-out switch or disconnect the energiser from
its power source while doing lengthy maintenance work on the fence.
