Operation
1. Press the push-button (04/1). The charge
state indicators light up according to the
charge state of the rechargeable battery.
2. To read the charge state, see section
"Charge state indicators on the rechargeable
battery".
Charge state indicators on the rechargeable
battery
LEDs Battery charge level
Green Rechargeable battery is fully
(04/2) charged, i.e. to 100 %.
Green Rechargeable battery is charged
(04/3) to over 50 %.
Green Rechargeable battery is charged
(04/4) to less than 50 %.
Red (04/5) The rechargeable battery is fully
discharged or the rechargeable
battery has been overheated/un-
dercooled.
5.3 Inserting and pulling out the
rechargeable battery (05)
IMPORTANT! Danger of damage to the re-
chargeable battery. If the rechargeable battery
is left in the appliance after use, it may damage
the rechargeable battery.

Immediately after use, pull the rechargeable
battery out of the appliance and store in a
frost-protected area.
■
Only insert the rechargeable battery in the
appliance immediately before starting work.
Inserting the rechargeable battery
1. Open the cover (05/1) of the rechargeable
battery compartment (05/a).
2. Push the rechargeable battery (05/2) into the
rechargeable battery slot from above until it
engages (05/b).
3. Close the cover of the rechargeable battery
compartment until it audibly engages.
Pull out the rechargeable battery
1. Press and hold the unlock button on the re-
chargeable battery.
2. Pull out the rechargeable battery (05/2).
5.4 Switching the power supply on and off
(05, 06)
The safety key for the key switch in the recharge-
able battery compartment can be used to switch

the power supply for the entire appliance on and
off.
WARNING! Risk of injury. Unintentional
switching on can lead to serious injuries.
■
Each time before work breaks and mainte-
nance work: switch off the appliance and re-
move the safety key.
Switching on the power supply
1. Open the cover (05/1) of the rechargeable
battery compartment (05/a).
2. Insert (06/a) the safety key (06/1) and turn to
1 (06/b). The appliance is supplied with oper-
ating voltage, but does not yet begin to oper-
ate.
3. Close the cover of the rechargeable battery
compartment.
4. Switch on the appliance: Start the motor, see
chapter 6.2 "Starting and stopping the motor
(08)", page 32.
Switching off the power supply
1. Turn the safety key to 0 (06/c) and remove it
(06/d).
2. Immediately after use, pull the rechargeable
battery out of the appliance, charge and store
in a frost-protected area. Only insert the re-
chargeable battery in the appliance immedi-
ately before the next use.
6 OPERATION
WARNING! Danger if assembly is not
carried out completely! Operation of an incom-
pletely assembled appliance can result in serious
injury.

Only operate the appliance when it is fully as-
sembled.
■
Do not insert the battery into the appliance
until it is fully assembled.
■
Check that all safety and protective devices
are in place and functioning correctly before
switching on.
6.1 Setting the cutting height (07)
The cutting height setting for models with central
height adjustment is carried out using a lever.
For models with individual wheel or axle adjust-
ment, a lever is located on each wheel. Make
sure the cutting height setting is the same on all
wheels.
