FITTING THE UNIT
The unit may be positioned either to the right or to the left of the pas-
sageway.
• Choose the type of operator arm best suited to the structure you
are going to automate:
- standard articulated operator arm (fig.7, pag. 5).
- oversize articulated operator arm with dimension "A" (fig.4, pag. 4)
max. 250 mm.
- straight operator arm for gates where an obstacle inhibits the use of
an articulated operator (fig.8, pag. 5).
1) Move the gate to the closed position.
2) Choose the type of opening and fix the opening and closing travel
blocks into position "" (fig.6, pag. 4).
3) Position the wall fastening plate according to the measurements
shown in fig. 2 page 3.
4) Check that the motor positioned on the wall/post allows the operator
arm to be fixed to the gate framework.
Attention! The bracket must only be fitted to the rigid frame-
work of the gate.
5) Fasten the plate to the wall using 4 expansion bolts (fig. 2, page
3). If it is to be fitted to an iron structure you will need to weld to
reinforcement plates onto the structure.
6) Fasten the motor to the wall mounting plate using the supplied
screws "" (fig. 2, page 3).
• You are advised to install an electric locking device (see standard
installation fig. 1)
Fitting the standard articulated operator arm (fig.3, page 3)
• With the motor fastened to the column/post and the gate closed
proceed as follows:
- mount the operator arm on the motor following the sequence in
(fig.3, pag. 3);
- extend the operator arm (rotating it) until part "5" (fig.3, pag. 3) is
parallel to the gate;
- move part "7" (fig.3, pag. 3) towards the gate and mark the points
at which the bracket is to be mounted "7" (fig.3, pag. 3) ;
- keeping the bracket in position manually simulate an opening
movement and check that the operator arm is in square to the gate
throughout the movement;
- verify the correct position and fasten the bracket to the gate;
- make sure that the articulated arm has a minimum angle (fig.4, pag. 4)
when the arm is fastened and fully extended. This will make manually
movement easier;
- fasten the articulated arm to the gate bracket;
- move the operator in the opening direction and check that all the
elements move smoothly.
Fitting the straight operator arm (fig. 8, page 5)
• The system is suitable for gates that do not exceed 1,2 m in length
and the distance between the edge of the gate and the edge of the
column does not exceed 30 mm;
- fasten the motor to the column/post following the procedure "Fitting
the unit" and once you have found the correct position for theguides
proceed as follows;
- insert operator arm into the motor holding bracket;
- move the gate to the completely open position by moving the opera-
tor arm manually;
- position the guide by fastening down screw "3" and check that the
operator arm is in square to the gate throughout the movement.
- move the operator in the opening direction and check that all the
elements move smoothly.
ELECTRICAL CONNECTION (fig. 4)
Before connecting the appliance make sure that the voltage
and frequency rated on the data plate conform to those of
the mains supply.
A double pole circuit breaker with a least 3mm between the
contacts must be installed between the unit and the mains
supply.
• The appliance works off a 230Vac power supply.
• Do not use cables with aluminium conductors; do not solder the
ends of cables which are to be inserted into the binding posts.
• The cables must be fastened down near the terminal board so that
both the power wires and the sheath are well blocked by the sup-
plied cable clamp.
• The electrical wires must be first passed through the cable clamp
"B" and then though the hole "A" (fig.2).
Connect the motors following the wiring diagram on page 8.
Left-hand installed motor:
- binding post "V" opening direction (red wire)
- binding post "U" closing direction (green wire)
- binding post "W" common (white wire)
Right-hand installed motor:
- binding post "V" closing direction (red wire)
- binding post "U" opening direction (green wire)
- binding post "W" common (white wire)
MANUAL RELEASE
The motor is reversible and can therefore easily be opened by pushing
the gate after the electric lock has been released.
MAINTENANCE
Before carrying out any cleaning or maintenance operations
make sure the power is disconnected at the mains.
• The operator does not require normal maintenance, however to
maintain the efficiency of the installation you are advised to peri-
odicallly grease the gate hinges and pins.
USER INSTRUCTIONS
During the opening/closing manoeuvre check for correct operation and
activate the emergency stop button in case of danger.
During blackouts the gate can be released and manually manoeuvred
(see manual release).
Periodically check the moving parts for wear and tear and grease if
required, using lubricants which maintain their friction levels unaltered
throughout time and are suitable for temperatures of -20 to +70°C.
In case of failure or operational anomalies switch off the power at the
mains do not attempt to repair the appliance yourself.
Periodically check the correct operation of all safety devices (photo-
electric cells etc.).
