tion and ensure that the insufflation instrument is correctly positioned. Long sur-
geries (> 200 min.), the use of many access points, duration and size of leaks at
these points may also contribute to emphysema. Be sure to close leakages in tro-
car accesses immediately.

Additional insufflation sources
The use of additional insufflation sources increases the intra-abdominal pres-
sure. Continuously monitor intra-abdominal pressure over the course of the en-
tire insufflation if additional sources are used.

Selecting Bariatric Operating Mode

1. Selection of the insufflation mode can be done only while insufflation is
stopped. If the Bariatric operating mode is not yet set, press the function field
Select Insufflation Mode for 2 seconds (see Fig. 5-3 Screen displays, (1)) to
load the insufflation overview.
2. The display depicts an insufflation modes overview. Select the desired insuf-
flation operating mode by pressing the Bariatric function field.
3. The procedure profile is depicted on the display. The displayed parameters
correspond with the factory settings or the values set in the configuration
menu (see chapter 8.1 Configuration Menu I, page 36).

Presetting Nominal Pressure in Bariatric Operating Mode

The nominal pressure can be set during insufflation or while insufflation is
stopped. Values may be in the range of 1 to max. 30 mmHg or correspond to the
value set in the configuration menu in this area.
Increasing/decreasing nominal pressure:
Briefly press the + or - function field to increase or decrease the pressure. Keeping
the + or - function field depressed longer than 1.5 seconds activates scrolling in
increments of 1.
Safety limit:
When increasing the nominal pressure, the status line of the display depicts Safe-
ty Limitstarting at 15 mmHg and the nominal pressure value flashes. The nomi-
nal pressure value of 15 mmHg is a safety threshold value. This is where the
recommended range for the intra-abdominal pressure ends. Pressing the nomi-
nal pressure function field + again does not increase the pressure any further. Re-
lease the function field at that point. The display switches back to the nominal
value setting after 2 seconds. Now you can set a value up to 30 mmHg.
