5.2.1 Checking direction of rotation
The direction of rotation of the 3-phase
motors must be checked before
commissioning.
The check can be made by observing
the starting jerk. For this purpose place
the pump vertically on the floor, slightly
on edge and switch on briefly.
Seen from above the pump moves
slightly counter-clockwise if the direction
of rotation is correct.
For pumps already installed the check
of correct rotation is made by comparing
the delivery head and the flowrate
for different directions of rotation.
If the direction of rotation is wrong,
2 phases of the power supply must be

interchanged.
For pumps with CEE power reversing plug,
this can be performed by a 180° rotation
of the circular holding plate.

6. Commissioning
Check the float switches for freedom
of movement.
Never allow the pump to run dry
for a long period.
All pipe valves or shut-off valves
present should be opened before
commissioning the system.
Connect pump to power supply or insert power plug.
Important: Correct function of the pump and any level
controller fitted should be checked with a trial run.

7. Maintenance, servicing, warranty
7.1
Maintenance and servicing
The pump must be put out
of operation without fail before
starting maintenance.
Withdraw power plug or turn safety
switch (located inside Biral control
units) and secure against
re-connection.
Maintenance and servicing must only
be performed by technical personnel
trained by Biral.
Only original Biral spare-parts must
be used.
We would point out that we cannot
accept any liability under the product
liability law for damage caused
by our units due to improper repairs,
which were not performed by Biral
or authorized technical personnel,
or if original spare-parts have not
been used when exchanging
components. The same conditions
apply to accessories.
The pump must be cleaned thoroughly
with clean water before starting work
and the inside of the pump casing
also flushed through.
Clean pump components with water
each time when dismantled.
In pumps with oil barrier chamber,
excess pressure can escape
from the chamber when releasing
the oil control screw.
Only release the screw fully
when pressure equalization has
taken place.
7.1.1 Maintenance of pumps for temporary use
Every time after use the pump should be flushed
in clear water. Then allow to run dry for approx.
1 minute, so that the residual water can escape.
If the pump is not used for some time, a wet operation
should be performed for about 5 minutes every
3 months to prevent blockage of the impeller.
If there is a danger of frost, allow the pump to run
further briefly following wet operation (approx. 1 minute)
to prevent freezing of the impeller. A frozen impeller
can be released by immersing in warm water.
