7.1.2 General maintenance

In normal operation the pump should be inspected
at least once annually. With continuous operation
or special conditions (e.g. highly abrasive pumping
medium) maintenance should be performed after
every 1000 hours of operation.
To ensure long-term satisfactory operation of the pump,
at least the following tests should always be performed
during maintenance:
– Check current consumption with a measuring set
and compare with the rated current (see nameplate).
If the current has increased, the cause must be found
and eliminated.
– Check pump casing and impeller for visible wear
and exchange if necessary.
– Check the free and silent running of shaft bearings
by turning the shaft. If there is any damage, a general
overhaul by the Biral repair service is necessary.
– Check cable and cable entry for watertightness
and damage (visual inspection).
7.1.3 Additional maintenance for pumps
with oil barrier chamber
– Oil level and oil condition:
The condition of the floating ring seals can be
checked by an optical inspection of the oil.
Place pump in a horizontal position, so that the oil
chamber inspection screw (in larger pumps: one of
the two oil chamber inspection screws) fitted
on the side of the motor casing is on top.
Remove the screw and extract a small quantity of oil.
If the oil is cloudy or milky, it indicates a damaged
shaft seal.
In this case request the Biral repair service to check
the condition of the shaft seals.
– The oil should be changed every 3000 hours
of operation. Oil type: Shell Tellus C22
or bio-degradable ESSO-Marcol (available
on request). Used oil should be disposed
of according to the relevant environmental
regulations.

Pump types not listed can be found on the additional
sheet enclosed with the equipment or inquiries can
be made to Biral.
7.1.4 Setting the gap between pump casing
and impeller
Loss of performance due to operation can be
compensated by re-adjusting the gap width between
impeller and casing. The separate instructions
08 0400.2120 should be noted for this purpose.

7.2 Maintenance agreement

It is recommended to conclude a maintenance
agreement for regular, professional performance
of all necessary maintenance and inspection work.

7.3 Warranty

The same general terms of sale and delivery apply
to the pumps described here as to all other products
from Biral.
A basic condition for claims under the warranty
is the observation of every individual point in this
documentation. An operating fault caused by wear
and/or corrosion is not covered by the warranty.
