Special safety information for extraction mode

The fan withdraws air from the room in which an extractor hood is

operated in extraction mode and transported outside. If fireplaces
depending on the room air are simultaneously in use in this room
(e.g. gas or other fuel-powered heating systems), this can be
withdrawn for the combustion of the necessary oxygen. This can
result in the flame going out and gas escaping or the exhaust gas
being sucked into the room.
Operation without risk is possible when, e.g. the air for combustion
can flow through non-closing apertures in doors, windows or
wallboxes and when a maximum vacuum of 0.04 bar can be attained
in the room where installed. Thereby, back suction of the exhaust
gases is prevented.
To evaluate the required actions, always observe overall associated
ventilation of the living quarters. Consult the competent official
heating inspector. Never connect the extraction hood to a ventilation
duct or room or flue!
The extracted air must not be routed into a channel in which warm
air circulates. The extracted air must only be routed to the outside in
a separate air channel only provided for the extraction hood.
For operation in extraction mode, wall breakthrough of a minimum

13 cm diameter is required. We recommend that you commission a
specialist firm (electrical installation) to make this opening ( core
drilling).
Consider: The shorter the extraction pipe is and the less bends it has,
the greater the effect of the extraction hood.
There are different authority regulations in the different federal
states with regard to dealing with discharge of the exhaust air. Ask
your local official heating inspector for advice.
