6.5 GLOBE AND GUARD INSTALLATION

6.5.1 G251 GLOBE
G251 globe should be assembled with P22 stainless or aluminum
guard (see Figure 11).
To assemble, align correctly then push globe and guard together.
Apply a small amount of HTL
Screw the globe and guard assembly as a unit into the ballast hous-
ing. Hand tighten securely.
6.5.2 G34 GLOBE
G34 globe should be mounted on ballast housing directly (see Figure
12).
Apply a small amount of HTL
Thread the globe into the ballast housing. Hand tighten securely.
6.6 REFLECTOR INSTALLATION
Install dome or angle reflector by placing the keyway slots over the
mounting studs on the ballast housing and rotating clockwise until it
"snaps" into position.

6.7 LAMP INSTALLATION AND REPLACEMENT

!
To prevent ballast damage on high pressure sodium
luminaire, replace burned out lamps as soon as possible.
To avoid shortened lamp life, lamp holder failure, wiring faults, or
ballast failure, secure lamp firmly and completely.
- Disconnect power to luminaire and allow to cool completely.
- Remove globe or guard if used.
- Remove lamp.
- Perform cleaning and inspection as noted in the
MAINTENANCE/SERVICING section.
- Screw new lamp into lamp holder and hand tighten securely.
New lamp must be identical type, size, and wattage as marked
on the luminaire nameplate.
- Thoroughly clean or replace the globe gasket seal.
- Apply a small amount of HTL
globe and guard (if used) or refractor.

ballast housing and hand tighten securely. Refer to the GLOBE
AND GUARD INSTALLATION section above for more informa-
tion.

7. OPERATION

Prior to putting the apparatus into operation, the tests specified in the
relevant national regulations must be carried out.
Insulation measurements may only be carried out between PE and the
external conductor as well as PE and N.
- Measurement voltage: Max. 1kV AC/DC.
- Measurement current: Max. 10mA.
- The luminaire may only be operated when closed.
It is generally recommended (see IEC/EN60079-14) that you ensure
that the restricted breathing of the construction is not impaired during
installation and that you test the restricted breathing properties before
commissioning (see Section 10).

8.MAINTENANCE/SERVICING

Make sure globe or refractor and lamp are cool when performing
maintenance.

8.1 GENERAL

The relevant national regulations which apply to the
maintenance/servicing of electrical apparatus in explosive
atmospheres must be observed (IEC/EN60079-17).

8.2 MAINTENANCE /SERVICING CHECKS

During maintenance, the parts affecting the level of protection must
be checked; in particular:
- Enclosure and glass for cracks and damage.
- Seals for damage.
- Terminal, screw glands, and blanking plugs for secure fitting.
To maintain the light output, clean the protective glass and reflector
with a damp cloth or a mild cleaning fluid.
The interval between maintenance depends upon the ambient
