Using Starter Pin (Fig . 20)
The starter pin is used for operations that
involve routing curves in the workpiece.
WARNING
the guard when routing with the starter pin.
Keep fingers away from the bit. Serious
injury can occur if you contact the bit. Do
not attempt to rout small workpieces.
NOTICE:
When edging curves or complex shapes, you
must use bits that have pilot bearings.
When using the starter pin, the feed direction
of the workpiece is always right to left across
the front of the pin.
1. Turn off the integrated safety switch and unplug the table.
2. Screw the starter pin into the mounting plate.
3. Adjust the depth of cut.
4. Plug in the table and turn on the integrated safety switch.
5. Set the workpiece against the front of the starter pin and feed the workpiece slowly into the
bit.
6. While routing with a pilot bearing bit, make sure that the workpiece is always in contact with
the bit's pilot bearing.
Using Miter Gauge (Fig . 21a and 21b)
NOTE: For ALL routing operations requiring the use of the miter gauge with the fence, BE
SURE to align the fence using the scales on the top of the router table before making any cuts
(Fig. 21a).
Miters can be cut by loosening the miter-gauge knob, turning the miter gauge up to 60° in
either direction, and retightening the miter-gauge knob (Fig. 21b).
Make a test pass with a workpiece before making a cut to be sure the fence is aligned
correctly. Adjust as required and fasten the fence securely before making the cut.
