How to Make Coffee

wWARNING
Electrical Shock Hazard
Plug into a grounded outlet.
Do not remove ground.
Do not use an adapter.
Do not use an extension cord.
Failure to follow these instructions can result
in death, fi re, or electrical shock.
BEFORE FIRST USE: Clean the urn by following
the steps in "Cleaning Instructions."
1. To remove the lid, push down on the knob and
turn counterclockwise until the locking tabs
completely clear the handles on each side of
the removable tank; then lift up.
2. Take out the coffee basket and stem assembly.
3. Unlock removable tank from base by pulling out
and up on tank-locking clips. Remove the tank
from the base.
4. Fill with tap water to the level on coffee level
indictor for desired number of cups. You must
brew a minimum of 20 cups. Depending on your
model, the coffee urn will make up to 45, 65, or
110 cups. DO NOT OVERFILL THE COFFEE URN.
NOTE: For best results, always use cold, fresh
tap water.
5. Replace the tank onto the base. Lock tank on
base by pushing down on tank-locking clips.
wWARNING
Burn Hazard
The metal urn parts will be hot. Use a pot
holder or oven mitt to remove the lid.
Failure to follow these instructions can
result in burns.
6. Wet the basket. Add grounds to the basket. This
helps to keep small particles of coffee grinds from
sifting through.

45 cups (225 oz./7 L)
30 cups (150 oz./4 L)
20 cups (100 oz./3 L)
* Always keep the water and coffee amounts between
the minimum and maximum for your urn size.
NOTE: We recommend using coffee that has
been ground specifi cally for use in a percolator-
type coffeemaker. However, coffee marked "For
All Coffeemakers" is acceptable. If using a coffee
grinder and whole beans, percolator coffee should
be a coarse grind. A fi nely ground coffee may cause
the coffee basket to overfl ow and result in grounds
in coffee.
