6.4 SAFETY SWITCH
The shredder is equipped with a safety switch (B) fitted where the main housing meets the motor
housing.
If the main housing is not properly seated and secured to the motor housing, the safety switch (B)
will be triggered and the motor will stop. In this case, proceed as follows:
• Open the main housing as described above.
• Clean the cutting and ejection area carefully and remove any objects that could block the
blades.
• Carefully close the main housing and tighten the housing locking screw (A).
• IMPORTANT! Before loosening the housing locking screw (A), ALWAYS switch off the device
using the on/off switch (C) and unplug the mains plug.
6.5 OPERATION
IMPORTANT! Check that the hopper is empty before starting the machine.
• Keep your face and body away from the feed opening.
• Make sure you keep your hands, other parts of your body and clothing out of the feed chamber,
discharge chute and away from any other moving parts.
• Never stand on a higher surface than the shredder when feeding the material into the intake
opening.
• Stand outside the ejection zone when operating the machine.
• Always remove the shredded material from the ejection zone before it piles up. This prevents
shredded material from being propelled back through the hopper and causing accidents.
• If the shredder is blocked, switch it off, unplug the mains plug from the mains socket and wait
until the machine has come to a complete stop before removing the blockage. Keep the on/off
switch (C) clean and clear of foreign objects.
• Fill the material to be shredded into the feed opening on the left-hand side (clockwise rotation
of the blades). The material is automatically drawn in by the blades.
• WARNING! Longer material protruding from the machine could spring back when drawn in by
the blades! Maintain a safe distance!
• Don't add too much material as this can clog up the hopper.
• Always shred withered and damp garden waste alternately with branches to prevent the blades
from jamming.
• Do not feed soft waste such as kitchen waste into the shredder; compost it directly.
• Dense branches with foliage must be completely shredded before new material is fed in.
• Make sure that the shredded material can fall freely out of the ejection chute. Otherwise there
is a danger of blockage.
• The ventilation slots must not be covered by the collection bag or shredded material.
6.6 USE OF THE PUSHER
Smaller objects can be better inserted into the shredder with the help of the pusher provided.
Always wait until the material has been completely shredded before introducing a new load.
ATTENTION ! Never use the appliance without the hopper!
Tips:
• Heavy, hard material or branches will cause the blades to jam if cutting is continuous. You can
counteract this problem by pulling the material out a little by hand. This helps to keep the motor
running instead of the motor protection eventually being triggered.
