the motor from damage and possible fire. Be aware that when the starting mechanism is
engaged on power-driven appliances, the cutting tool also starts operating.
• Make sure that all covers and deflectors are in place and in good working order.
• Do not change the motor's governor setting; this regulates the safe maximum operating speed
and protects the motor and all rotating parts from damage due to excessive speed. If you have
any problems, contact the customer service department.
• Do not transport the machine with the motor running.
• Switch off the motor when you leave the work area and pull out the mains plug.
• Do not tip the machine when the motor is running.
• Make sure your posture is appropriate and always keep your balance to ensure a secure footing
at all times.
• Stop the machine and disconnect the mains plug. Make sure that all moving parts have come
to a complete stop:
- whenever you leave the machine unattended,
- before clearing a blockage or cleaning clogged channels,
- before checking, cleaning or otherwise working on the machine.
2.7 SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR MAINTENANCE AND
STORAGE
• Check the appliance for faults and damage. If the electrical appliance is damaged, have it
repaired by a specialist before further use.
• If the machine is switched off for maintenance, storage or replacement of an accessory, make
sure that the mains plug is disconnected from the mains. Make sure that all moving parts are
stationary and you remove the key if there is one. Let the machine cool down before
maintenance, adjustment, etc.
• When servicing the cutting tool, be aware that this can still rotate by means of the starting
mechanism even if the motor itself is disabled through the cover interlock. Never attempt to
bypass the interlock function of the safety device.
• Replace worn and damaged parts set by set to avoid imbalance.
2.8 ADDITIONAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR APPLIANCES
WITH COLLECTION BOX
• Switch off the shredder before attaching or removing the collection box.
2.9 RESIDUAL RISKS
• Even when used as intended, there may still be residual risks due to the design determined by
the intended use, despite compliance with all relevant safety regulations. Residual risks can be
minimised if the safety information and the intended use, as well as the operating instructions
as a whole, are observed.
• Consideration and caution reduce the risk of personal injury and damage.
• Risk of injury to fingers and hands if you reach through an opening and touch the blade unit.
• Risk of injury to fingers and hands during assembly and cleaning of the blade unit.
• Risk of injury from ejected shredded material in the hopper area.
• Danger from electricity, if improper electrical connection cables are used.
• Danger from contact with live parts when electrical components are open.
• Risk of hearing loss after prolonged work without wearing hearing protection.
• Non-obvious residual risks may still exist despite taking all precautions.
