• Do not use any electrical appliances in potentially explosive environments e.g. in the presence
of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Electrical appliances produce sparks that can ignite dust or
exhaust fumes.
• When working with the appliance, other people, especially children, must always keep a safe
distance. If distracted by others, you may lose control of the appliance.
• Only use the shredder in places that are protected from water. Never use the appliance
outdoors when it is raining.
• Leave enough space around the shredder. Place it on a firm and level surface and not too close
to walls.
2.3 GENERAL SAFETY INFORMATION – ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
• The plug of the electrical appliance must be compatible with the socket. Never change the plug.
Do not use adapter plugs with earthed electrical appliances. Original plugs and matching
sockets reduce the risk of electric shock.
• Use the cable only for its intended purpose. Never use the cable to carry, pull or unplug the
electrical appliance. Keep the cable away from heat, oil, sharp edges and moving parts.
Damaged or twisted cables increase the risk of electric shock.
• When operating an electrical appliance outdoors, use an extension cord that is suitable for
outdoor use.
• If operating an electrical appliance in a damp environment is unavoidable, use a residual current
circuit breaker for personal protection purposes.
• The product requires a power supply of 230-240 V ~50 Hz. Please check that the appropriate
power supply is available before use.
• If the power cord of the appliance is defective, return the appliance to our customer service
department or have it replaced by a qualified electrician. Damaged cables and plugs must only
be repaired by a qualified professional.
• To prevent damage to the cable, make sure it can't be tripped over or crushed.
2.4 USE AND MAINTENANCE OF ELECTRICAL ITEMS
• Stay alert at all times, and always pay attention to what you are doing while operating an
electrical appliance. Do not use electrical equipment when you are tired or under the influence
of drugs, alcohol or medication.
• Avoid unintentional startup. Ensure that the switch is off before plugging in the mains plug.
Carrying electrical equipment with your finger on the switch or plugging in electrical equipment
while the switch is on can cause accidents.
• Wear appropriate clothing. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep hair, clothing and
gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothing, jewellery and long hair can get caught in
moving parts.
• Wear personal protective equipment. Wearing personal protective equipment, e.g. safety
goggles, dust mask, non-slip safety shoes, safety helmet and hearing protection, depending on
the type and use of the appliance, reduces the risk of injury.
• Remove any adjustment tools or spanners before switching on the machine. A tool or spanner
left in a rotating part of the appliance can cause injury.
• Make sure your posture is appropriate. Stand securely and keep your balance at all times. This
gives you better control of the appliance in unexpected situations.
