2.5 SAFETY INFORMATION FOR FIRST USE
• Never allow children to use the appliance.
• Never use the machine while people or animals are nearby. Local regulations may restrict the
age of the user.
• Wear hearing protection, safety glasses and safety shoes. Wear them during the entire
operating time of the machine.
• Do not wear loose hanging clothing or items with hanging ribbons or cords.
• Always wear sturdy shoes and long trousers when operating the machine. Do not operate the
machine barefoot or in light sandals.
• Only use the machine outdoors in an open space (not close to a wall or other solid structures)
and on a firm, level surface.
• Do not use the machine on a paved, gravelled surface where ejected material could cause injury.
• Before putting the machine into operation, check that all screws, nuts, bolts and other fixings
are tight and that covers and protective guards are in place. Replace any labels that are
damaged or unreadable.
• Always check the connection and extension cables for signs of damage or ageing before use. If
the cable is damaged during use, it must be disconnected from the mains supply immediately.
DO NOT TOUCH THE CABLE UNTIL IT IS DISCONNECTED FROM THE MAINS. Do not use the
machine if the cable is damaged or worn.
2.6 SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR OPERATION
• CAUTION! This appliance has rotating blades.
• CAUTION! The blades do not stop immediately after switching off!
• IMPORTANT! The hopper must be fully assembled and securely seated before use.
• IMPORTANT! Before starting up, check that all screws, nuts, bolts and other fixings, and in
particular protective fixtures, are properly secured.
• Make sure that the hopper is empty before starting the machine.
• Keep your head and body away from the intake opening.
• Make sure you keep your hands, other parts of your body and clothing out of the intake
opening, discharge chute and away from any other moving parts.
• Always make sure you keep your balance and a firm footing.
• Do not stretch forward. Never stand higher than the machine when feeding in material.
• Always stay outside the ejection zone when starting up the machine.
• When feeding in material, pay particular attention that this doesn't contain metal, stones,
bottles, tins or other foreign objects.
• If foreign objects get into the cutting tool, the machine makes unusual noises or vibrates
unusually, switch off the motor immediately, let the machine come to a standstill and disconnect
the mains plug:
- Check the machine for damage.
- Check all parts are secured properly and tighten if necessary.
- Have any damaged parts replaced or repaired; the parts must be of equivalent quality.
• Do not allow processed material to accumulate inside the ejection area; this could prevent
proper ejection and cause material to kick back through the intake opening.
• If the machine's intake opening or discharge chute becomes clogged, switch off the motor and
disconnect the power plug before clearing any material left in the intake opening or discharge
chute. Make sure that the motor is kept free of debris and other material build-up to protect
