Setting up and use
The MC 740 offers 5 switchable polar patterns: omnidi-
rectional, wide cardioid, cardioid, hypercardioid and figure-
eight. The correct position for using the microphone is for the
sound source to be in-line with the microphone axis. This is
when the beyerdynamic )))) logo is facing to the front.
When the microphone is used for close vocal miking we
recommend the use of a popshield such as the PS 740. Fix this
to the microphone shaft with the clamp which will hold the
PS 740 in position. Adjust the screen to approximately 50 mm
from the microphone head which is the optimum distance for
this type of use.
When the microphone is to be used outdoors, a windscreen
should be fitted. The WS 740 is designed to stop low-frequency
interference caused by turbulent wind and can be fitted on the
microphone basket.
Adjusting the polar pattern
