– and if the specifications about the installation
surface made at the time of ordering the prod-
uct actually match the existing installation sur-
face.
• If any deviations are identified here which may
affect the safety, then the product should not be
installed.
Fixing materials
• The awning fulfils the wind resistance class as
specified in the technical specifications (► Tech-
nical data – p. 45).
• In the assembled condition it satisfied these
requirement only, if
– the awning is assembled with the type and
number of brackets specified in these instruc-
tions,
– the awning is installed whilst taking the speci-
fied plug extraction force into consideration
– and the wall anchors supplied in the scope of
delivery are used for the installation.
Climbing aids
• Aids should not be leaned against the awning or
fixed. They must have a firm position and offer
sufficient support. Use only the climbing aids that
have sufficiently high load-bearing capacity.
Protection against falls
• When working at great heights there is a risk of
falling. Appropriate protection measures should
be used.
Uncontrolled operation
• When working in the operating range of the awn-
ing, the automatic control should be deactivated.
There is a risk of crushing and falling.
• In addition, attention should be paid to ensure that
the system cannot be accidentally manually oper-
ated. To do this, interrupt the power supply, e.g.
deactivate fuses or separate the plug coupling at
the motor.
• For manual operation, the operating crank must
be removed and kept safely.
Test run
• When the awning is extended for the first time
there should not be anyone in the area or under
the awning. The fixing materials and brackets
should be subjected to a visual inspection after
extending the awning for first time.
• For test runs, never use automatic controls or
switches which mean that the awning is not within
the sight of the operator (risk of unintended start-
up). The use of a test cable to the motor connec-
tion is recommended.
Usage when there is wind
• If the awning is installed correctly, it will satisfy the
requirements of the wind resistance class as
specified in the technical specifications (► Tech-
nical data – p. 45).
• The awning should be used only for wind speeds
declared in the wind resistance class.
Usage when there is rain
• If the tilt of the awning is less than 25% = 14°,
measured horizontally, then the awning should
not be extended in the rain. There is hazard of
40
water accumulating in the cloth of the awning,
through which the awning can be damaged or fall
down.
Usage when there is snow or ice
• The awning should not be extended when there is
a risk of snow or frost. There is a risk that the awn-
ing may be damaged or fall.
• The automatic control must be deactivation in the
event of a risk of frost.
Leaves and foreign bodies
• Leaves and other materials on the awning cloth,
in the awning box and foreign bodies lying on the
guide rails should be removed immediately. There
is a risk that the awning may be damaged or fall.
Obstacles/risk of crushing
• There should not be any obstructions in the exten-
sion area of the awning. There is a risk of people
being crushed.
• If the awning is installed at a height of less than
2.5 metres over accessible travel paths, the awn-
ing may only be operated via a switch within view
of the moving parts. Electrical controls, radio
drives with push button switches, push button
switches etc. are not permitted in this instance.
• There is a crushing and cutting area between the
moving parts of the awning. Clothing or body parts
can be caught by these moving parts.
• Any additional loads on the awning caused by
attached objects or rope tensioning may lead to
damage and falling of the awning and are there-
fore not permitted.
Cleaning and maintenance work in the
extension area of the awning
• Motor-operated awnings may be extended unin-
tentionally. It should be ensured that the awning is
not extended when cleaning and maintenance
work (e.g. building cleaners) is being carried out
(e.g. deactivate fuse).
Maintenance
• Safe and risk-free use of the awning can be guar-
anteed only if the awning is checked and main-
tained on a regular basis. Inspect the awning reg-
ularly for signs of wear or damage to its covering
material or frame.
• If any damages are identified, a professional
should be given the task of repairing it. Awnings
that are in need of repair should not be used.
• Check the awning regularly for any signs of wear
or damages
Battery tool use and care
• Recharge only with the charger specified by
the manufacturer. A charger that is suitable for
one type of battery pack may create a risk of fire
when used with another battery pack.
• Use power tools only with specifically desig-
nated battery packs. Use of any other battery
packs may create a risk of injury and fire.
• When battery pack is not in use, keep it away
from other metal objects, like paper clips,
coins, keys, nails, screws or other small
metal objects, that can make a connection
from one terminal to another. Shorting the bat-
tery terminals together may cause burns or a fire.
