ASSEmBLy AND INSTALLATIoN
4.0 Installation considerations
• Check the site situation to ensure that the installation conforms to all relevant regulations. For
advice and guidance see "Siting of Flue Terminals", page 35.
• Windy positions should be avoided as this may give rise to nuisance shut downs and the need for
the customer to reset the unit.
• Ensure that flue passes through all walls are non-combustible. Special precautions have to be taken
when flue passes a combustible wall..
• In all circumstances the further away from the appliance the Fan Unit can be placed, the quieter it
will be and this will ensure the life for the unit is maximized by reducing the flue gas temperature.
This Power Fan flue system is intended for concentric flue systems with a diameter of 100/150 mm.
Flue length:
maximum length:
The Fan unit can accommodate up to 36m runs. This is the maximum horizontal and down length
together. Each bend in the flue reduces the maximum total length. A 45 degrees bend reduces the
length with 1 m, a 90 degrees bend with 2 m horizontal length.
minimum length:
The minimum horizontal and down flue length together is 3 meters. NOTE: Effective meters, so do
not count the bends as meters.
The Power Fan unit must not be positioned lower than the bottom of the fire.
Do check with Technical Support before installation if there are any doubts.
Examples:
Figure 1
Figure 1: Total Vertical length is 2 m. Total horizontal length is 27 meters. The 90 degrees bend
counts for 2 m. So total flue length is 2 + 27 +2 = 31m. This is under 36 m, so flue system will work
properly.
