8.3 Adjusting V-belt tension

Remove the cover under the main switch. Adjust the 2 screws (X) of the mounting plate of the motor. Pay
attention that the motor is level compared to the axe of the lathe. Push the V-belt (2) to check the tension. The
V-belt has obtained the right tension if it bends appr. 19 mm.
8.4 Slide ways

Tapered gibs are installed on the slide ways of the cross slide and compound rest. They are used to correct
play. Check that the slide ways are clean and have been lubricated before you start adjusting them. Replace
the gibs by loosening the back key screw (A) and by tightening the front one. Check that the slides can move
freely.

The nut (A) of the cross slide is used to reduce backlash in the nut. Reduce the play by adjusting the screw (B)
behind the nut. Check that the slide can move freely.

9.1 Headstock
The headstock is lubricated by means of an oil bath. Use Shell Tellus 46. To change the oil, remove the oil
plug which is located on top of the headstock. Check the oil level every week, change oil once a year.
9.2 Gear box
The gears and other parts in the gear box are lubricated by means of an oil bath. Use Shell Tellus 46. To
change the oil, remove the oil plug. It is located on the right side of the change gears, which becomes visible
after removing the cover of the gear box. Check the oil level every week. Change oil once a year.
9.3 Apron
Fill the reservoir on the bottom of the apron with Shell Tonna TX 68. To change the oil, remove the oil plug,
which is located on top of the apron (on the right of the cross slide). Change oil once a year.
9.4 Other parts
Use an oil can to lubricate the slides. Use an oil can with a light machine oil or lubricant to lubricate the lead
screw. Use an oil can to lubricate the oilers of the tailstock. Lubricate every day.
