Possible Cause(s)
Circuit breaker shutoff or the fuse
is removed.
Accumulation of buildup on the float.
The float is obstructed.
Defective motor.
The float is obstructed.
The pump is air locked.
The liquid inflow has reached the
pump's capacity.
The check valve is
installed backwards.
The check valve is stuck or plugged.
The lift is too high for the pump.
The inlet to the impeller is plugged.
The pump is air locked.
The lift is too high for the pump.
Low voltage, the speed is too slow.
The impeller or discharge pipe
is closed.
No check valve in a long discharge
pipe is allowing liquid to drain back
into the sump.
The check valve is leaking.
The basin is too small for the inflow.
Suggested Solution(s)
Plug in the pump.
Turn on the circuit breaker or replace
the fuse.
Clean the float.
Check the float path and
provide clearance.
Have the pump serviced by an authorized
service centre.
Check the float path and
provide clearance.
Shut the power off for approximately
1 minute then restart the pump. Repeat
several times to clear the air from
the pump.
A larger pump is required.
Check the flow indicating arrow on the
check valve body to insure it is
installed properly.
Remove the check valve and inspect for
proper operation.
Check the rating table in the
Specifications section.
Remove the pump from service and clean.
Shut the power off for approximately
1 minute, then restart the pump.
Repeat several times to clear the air from
the pump.
Check the rated pump performance.
Check for proper voltage to make certain it
corresponds to the nameplate voltage.

Install a check valve in the discharge line.
Inspect the check valve for the
correct operation.
