Chapter 1: Introduction
1.1 General safety measures

This unit should be operated only by competent personnel. Prior to commissioning, all
means of protection should be installed.

Before admitting a new employee to operation of the unit they should be briefed on
safety issues.
●
Before cleaning the unit or its maintenance it is necessary to cut off power supply.
●
Before removing any means of protection for the purpose of cutter-mixer cleaning or
maintenance it is necessary to provide protection against any possibility of the
occurrence of an accident.
●
In the course of cleaning and maintenance of the machine it is necessary to be attentive
and careful.
●
It is necessary to install a chain protection device. Cutter-mixer operation with
damaged wiring can cause electrical shock to the operator.
●
Cutter-mixer operation with damaged power cable can cause electrical shock to the
operator.
●
If any setting-up or maintenance is required, it is necessary to contact a qualified
specialist.
●
This unit is not designed for bone milling, frozen meat or fish grinding as well as for
any treatment of non-food products.
●
Placing fingers into the housing of cutter-mixer being in operation is prohibited.
1.2 Safety provisions
1.2.1 Mechanical facilities
The cover is important in the context of protection. The cover can be removed if the
press lever is lifted.
1.2.2 Electrical facilities

Microswitch — When the press lever is lifted the cutter-mixer stops. If the cover is not
installed, the unit is inoperative.
●
Relay — It provides restart of the cutter-mixer after interruption of power supply.
●
Even when the combination unit is equipped with mechanical and electrical protection
facilities (which are effective during operation, cleaning and maintenance of the
machine) a certain risk of injuries is preserved (potential hazard types are given in the
corresponding section hereof). For example, risk of get hurt by knife when loading a
product into the cutter-mixer or in the course of maintenance.
1.3 Brief description
1.3.2 Structural features
The cutter-mixer is made from stainless steel grade 304. It guarantees the purity of all
elements contacting food products. This feature also facilitates reduction of harmful action
of acids and salts as well as prevents corrosion development.
