Operating Instructions
DANGER
Incorrect use, faulty installation and operation jeopardise the
explosion protection and may lead to serious injuries or
damage.
Note the following special conditions!
(1)
Do not assemble and commission components that have been
stored in a cold environment. Take condensation into
consideration!
(2)
Enclosure has been sealed in the factory. Do not open the
enclosure!
(3)
Before assembly, check whether the components are in perfect
condition.
(4)
Do not make any modifications and changes to the module.
(1)
Adhere to VBG 4 § 6 par. 2 when working on the unit
(2)
Devices must have an assembly distance of 8 mm to the next
device.
(3)
All connecting bolts and terminals should be tightened using a
torque wrench, paying attention to the recommended
connection torque of 0.4 Nm to 0.7 Nm for connecting bolts
and terminals. This should be ensured using suitable
measures.
(4)
The equipotential bonding conductor connection part must be
connected with low impedance to the equipotential bonding
conductor for the potentially explosive atmosphere. Since the
intrinsically safe circuits are galvanically connected to the earth
potential, the equipotential bonding of the intrinsically safe
circuits must exist throughout the service life of the plant.
(5)
It is permissible to work on intrinsically safe circuits if all live
parts without the intrinsically safe type of protection have a
cover that corresponds at least to protection type IP30 (see
EN/IEC 60079-7:2007). The cover is not included with delivery.
(6)
Provide IP 30 covers on terminals 11 and 21 (enclosed)
(7)
Only terminals 12 and 22 can be worked with
(8)
Protect against unintentional reclosing/seal isolator terminal.
(9)
Ensure isolation from supply (pay attention to valves and
fittings with energy storage mechanism)
(10) Cover neighboring, conducting parts
(11) Remove the device from service in the event of a fault!

7. Commissioning
The following must be checked before commissioning:
(1) Module installed correctly?
(2) Enclosure not damaged?
(3) Connection established properly?
(4) Have terminals 11 and 21 been fitted with an IP30 cover?
(5) Correct wiring?
(6) Functions perfectly?
8. Operation
Once the final inspection has been carried out, the device can be put
into operation.
DANGER
There is a risk of fatal injury if used for purposes other than that
for which it is intended!
Adhere to the special conditions for explosion protection.
Operate only in the permissible temperature range.
9. Fault Clearance
1.
Check wiring and connections.
2.
The MODEX control component is defective if it does not
transmit any more signals. Replace the module.
3.
It is not possible to repair it.
