Compact Ventilation Units AIR1 XC
– Lift the unit slowly.
214 Fireplaces
The relevant applicable rules for the combined operation of fireplaces, ventilation, extraction hoods (Federal Association
of Chimney Sweeps (ZIV)) must be observed!
General building regulation requirements
The simultaneous use of controlled ventilation (AIR1 XC units) and room air-dependent fireplaces (tiled stove, gas stove,
etc.) requires compliance with all applicable regulations. The use of room air-dependent fireplaces is only permitted in
apartments with a separate combustion air supply. Only then can AIR1 XC units and fireplaces be decoupled from each
other and operated based on demand.
It is recommended to consult the responsible chimney sweep to take your wishes into account before procuring a
negative pressure monitoring system for fireplaces.
215 Disassembly and re-assembly
m
Danger to life due to electric shock!
An electric shock can result in death or serious injury.
– Ensure that the unit is voltage-free and isolated from the mains power supply. Ground and short circuit the unit, shield
neighbouring live components.
– The unit must be isolated from the mains power supply before disassembly or re-assembly.
m
Risk of personal injury and material damage!
The disassembly and re-assembly of the unit are not part of routine maintenance.
– The disassembly and re-assembly of the unit may only be carried out by qualified specialist personnel.
Risk of material damage when installing heating and cooling registers!
The following must be taken into account when installing heating and cooling registers:
– Close all hydraulic stop valves.
– Isolate all connections and ensure that the unit is leak-free with regard to oil and refrigerants.
– Since the diameter of the heating and cooling pipes is small, water may remain in the register after emptying. For
safety reasons, compressed air should be blown through the system to remove the remaining water.
m
Personal injury and/or material damage due to unit tipping over!
Due to the high centre of gravity, the unit can tip over and cause personal injury and material damage.
- When transporting the unit, carefully observe its behaviour and stay clear of any possible hazardous areas.
216 Disposal
m
Danger to life due to electric shock
An electric shock can result in death or serious injury.
– Ensure that the unit is voltage-free and isolated from the mains power supply. Ground and short circuit the unit, shield
neighbouring live components.
Dispose of all components and filters and disused operating materials (e.g. oil, refrigerants) in an environmentally-friendly man-
ner in accordance with the local codes, practices and environmental regulations.
An authorised specialist waste processing company must dispose of the unit or the individual components. The appointed
contractor must ensure that:
– the components are separated according to material types
the used operating materials are sorted and separated according to their respective properties.
22 Mechanical assembly
m
Danger to life due to electric shock
The installation and connection of the unit may only be carried out by qualified specialist personnel. The electrical
connections must be carried out by a person who has proper professional training and experience in the relevant acci-
dent prevention regulations, as well as other generally recognised safety and occupational health codes, with authori-
sation to perform work on the unit.
221 General mechanical assembly
The compact ventilation unit AIR1 XC with suspension bracket is designed for ceiling installation. Due to noise levels,
which change depending on system pressure, it is recommended that the compact ventilation unit is installed in the
washroom, utility room or storage room. It must be ensured that there is a waste water connection in the installation
area. In this respect, please consider the condensation outlet information!
The assembly should take place in such a way to enable the shortest possible ventilation ducts and trouble-free
connection to the unit. Tight bends results in increased pressure losses and flow noises.

Important information:

– The ventilation ducts must not become kinked.
– The connections to the connectors must be firm and tight.
– The flange connections must be leakproof and firm.
– It is recommended that the units have grilles on the outside air and exhaust air connectors to prevent the entry of
small animals and pollutants in the air inlets and outlets.
– The exhaust air discharges must not re-enter the unit through the outside air inlet.
– The assembly of the unit must only take place in rooms that are free of frost, as there is a danger of freezing
The room temperature must not fall below 0 °C!
