Possible cause
The device needs to be
cleaned.
The coffee powder has been
too fi nely or too coarsely
ground (in a coffee mill).
The coffee/water mixture is
not ideal.
The water quality is not good.
There is no longer any water
in the water tank.
Is the device scale-encrus-
ted?
Is the device being used for
the fi rst time?
Has the device just been
descaled?
Fix
Clean the device (see the
"Care and decalcifying"
chapter).
Adjust the grinding fi neness
of the coffee (or have it adjus-
ted) if necessary or choose
another coffee powder.
Adjust the mixture to your
own individual taste.
Check the water quality and
fi lter the water if necessary.
Pour water into the water
tank.
Descale the device (see
the "Care and decalcifying"
chapter).
A smell often develops when
new devices are fi rst used.
The smell should disappear
once the device has been
used several times.
Rinse out the device with
clear water.
