There may still be some production residues on the device. To avoid harmful effects
to your health, clean the device before you fi rst use it (see the „Cleaning and Care"
chapter).
1. Wipe down the device with a clean, damp cloth. Clean the permanent fi lter, the
permanent fi lter holder and the thermo cup with mild detergent and warm water or
in the dishwasher.
2. Set up the device in a suitable location, following the safety instructions and the
notes provided at the beginning of this chapter.
3. Completely unwind the mains cable and plug into a properly installed plug socket
that is easily accessible.
4. Before you enjoy your fi rst coffee, we recommend that you carry out a trial run to
remove any possible production residues in the water system. To do this, follow the
instructions in the "Use" chapter.
When the device is fi rst used, production-related additives (e.g. grease) may
cause a small amount of smoke and / or an odour to be produced. This is normal
and not a device defect.
5. Perform this process twice. Do not drink this coffee!
6. Clean the device and accessories (see the "Care and decalcifying" chapter).

Do not pour milk or other liquids into the water tank. Only ever use water to make
coffee!

Never overfi ll the permanent fi lter.
■
Never operate the device without a suitable cup placed below the coffee outlet.
The device automatically deactivates after the brewing process. It has overheat
protection that prevents reactivation directly after the brewing process for reasons
of safety. Therefore, wait a few minutes after the brewing process for the device
to cool down before starting another brewing process.
1. Open the water tank cover and add some water to the water tank.
2. Place the permanent fi lter holder in the fi lter compartment.
3. Place the permanent fi lter in the permanent fi lter holder.
4. Add a coffee pad or loose coffee grounds to the permanent fi lter.
5. Close the water tank cover.
6. Place the thermo cup (without the cover!) under the coffee spout.
7. Push the Power switch to switch the coffee maker on. The Power switch will illumi-
nate and the brewing process will begin immediately.
8. The brewing process is complete when no more coffee fl ows into the coffee cup.
The device automatically deactivates after the brewing process. The Power button
will go out once the device is switched off.
