The correct position of the chain will have the cutting
edges of the teeth in the direction of rotation of the
chain:
4. Once the bar with the chain has been placed on the
drive sprocket, place the chain/bar cover (4) back in
place.
5. Tension the chain by turning the chain nut (5b)
clockwise to tighten until the chain tension is correct.
(More information in point 6.3.1.).
6. Tighten the chain/bar cover nut (5) firmly.
7. Check that the chain slides along the bar,
maintaining proper tension at all times when you
move it by hand. If necessary, repeat the tensioning
procedure until the chain is correctly installed.

New chains have a certain expansion when they
begin to be used. Regularly check and adjust the
chain tension. An incorrectly tensioned chain will wear
quickly and wear out the chain bar guide.
6.3.1. CHAIN TENSIONING
1. Make sure the chain is inside the bar guide groove.
2. Loosen the chain/bar cover nut (5).
3. Turn the chain nut (5b) clockwise to tension or
counterclockwise to loosen the chain until the chain
tension is correct.
a. Example (A) corresponds to a chain that is too tight.
b. Example (B) corresponds to a chain that is too loose.
4. Tighten the chain/bar cover nut (5).
NOTES: The chain expands with heat. When the chain
is cold the tension will be greater than when it is hot.
If you tension the chain when it is cold, you should
check the tension after a few cuts (the chain will have
reached its working temperature) since when it heats
up it will expand and loosen, with the risk of it coming
off the guide. Retension the chain if necessary.
If the chain is retensioned when hot, the tension
should be checked when it cools and loosened slightly
if necessary as the contraction that occurs as the
chain cools could cause excessive tension on the
chain and damage it.
