Pond Clear 5.000 & 7.500
Before installing this device, please read the instructions very carefully. Caution: this device contains
glass, handle with care! Before maintenance/repair always disconnect the electric plug from the socket!
Operation
The Pond Clear 5.000 & 7.500 are Multi-Stage Pond Filters which are suitable for ponds with a capacity of up to
5.000 and 7.500 litres of water. The unique multiple filter construction ensures clear pond water, healthy fish and
strong plants.
Phase 1: UV-C lamp fights bacteria, germs and floating algae.
Phase 2: Trickle filter catches coarse dirt and enriches the water with oxygen.
Phase 3: Filter mat and bioblocks provide a mechanical and biological filtering process.
Phase 4: Fluted filter removes the last impurities from the water.
On arrival in the filter the water flows past a UV-C lamp where it is exposed to UV-C radiation (253.7 nanometres).
This radiation ensures that bacteria and germs have no chance to develop. Floating algae is also destroyed by this
process so that the clarity of your pond water is guaranteed. The water is pushed upwards by the specially
developed internal construction of the UV housing and flows over a perforated dish. This dish also serves as a
trickle filter; the coarse dirt remains behind on the dish while the water makes its way and falls via the holes in the
dish to the filter mat. This movement causes the water to be enriched with extra oxygen. The filter mat and the
bioblocks provide a mechanical and biological filtering process. The filter surface of these materials is so great that
an optimum biological balance is formed. In the last phase the water is carried back via a fluted filter to the pond.
This fluted filter ensures fine filtering and completes the filtering process.
Safety
This device produces harmful radiation. Direct contact can be harmful to eyes and skin. Therefore check the
working of the UV-C lamp only via the bottom of the drip tray (see: Installation).
-
Switch off if there is no water passing trough the device.
-
During the winter months, when the system is out of use, remove the unit to prevent damage from freezing
-
Always put the unit plug in a socket with an emergency cut out (See drawing 1)
-
If a permanent connection is made to the mains net, be sure to comply fully with the regulations of the electricity
company. In case of doubt, consult a certified electrician or the electricity company. This apparatus is provided
with an earth.
-
The cable of this device is not replaceable. In case of cable damage, the whole device must be destroyed.
-
When water treatment agents or medication is used, the device has to be switched off.
Installation Drawing 2)
Never submerge the device in water. The device must always be installed outside of the pond. Thanks to the
camouflaged cover, this filter can be placed unobtrusively next to your pond. Only insert the power plug into a
socket that is fitted with a dust cover (See drawing 1). Never lay the plug on wet grass or on a wet surface.
1 Carefully unscrew the screw top from the filter.
2 Unscrew the lid (A) and install the special lamp (B).
3 Place the lid (A) back on the housing and hand-tighten.
4 Now test the operation of the UV-C device. Check the operation of the UV-C lamp by briefly switching on the
UV-C device. If the lamp lights up, blue light can be seen at the bottom of the drip tray (F). After checking,
immediately switch the lamp off by removing the plug from the socket (test max. 1 minute!)
5 Screw the lid onto the filter.
6 Connect the hoses by means of hose clips (not included in the delivery).
7 Switch the pump on and check the system for flow and leakage.
8 Switch the UV-C device on.
