To prevent electrical shock, the grounding prong on the
range cord should not be cut or removed under any cir-
cumstances.
It must be plugged into a matching grounding type re-
ceptacle and connected to a correctly polarized 240-
Volt circuit.
If there is any doubt as to whether the wall receptacle is
properly grounded, have it checked by a qualified elec-
trician.
6.1 Electrical requirements
Make sure your electrical installation supports the follow-
ing requirements.
This appliance must be supplied with the proper voltage
and frequency and connected to an individual, properly
grounded branch circuit, protected by a circuit breaker or
fuse having amperage as specified on the rating plate.
The rating plate is located above the drawer on the oven
frame. See information on rating plate. →  Page 15
Check with your local utilities for electrical codes which ap-
ply in your area. Failure to wire your appliance according
to governing codes could result in a hazardous condition.
If there are no local codes, your range must be wired and
fused to meet the requirements of the National Electrical
Code, ANSI/NFPA No. 70–Latest Edition.

The strain relief must be properly installed. Strain reliefs
vary. Carefully read and follow the instructions included
with your strain relief.

¡ The range may be connected using an electric range
cord, or using a flexible conduit electrical connection.
¡ Use only cord kits rated 125/250 volts, 40 amperes
(minimum), and labeled "For Use with Ranges".
¡ It is recommended that only qualified persons add a
power cord or make electrical connections to this appli-
ance.
Note: In Canada, the range is shipped from the factory
with the range cord already installed. Continue to install
the range into the cabinets. →  Page 12
The range requires a minimum of a three-wire 120/240 V
or 120/208 V, 40 - 50 A, 60 Hz AC circuit. Check local
codes for proper amperage ratings. A four-wire connection
is preferred. Most local building regulations and codes re-
quire that electrical wiring be done by licensed electri-
cians. Be sure to install your range according to the elec-
tric codes in your region.
Electrical kW rating
Ranges are dual rated for use on either 120/240 VAC or
120/208 VAC. Check the rating label for the kW rating.
Reference the kW rating in the table below to determine
amperage requirements.

Note: The knockout panel below the terminal block can be
removed from the range to install the strain relief. Remove
the panel from range, install the strain relief in the panel
and reattach. DO NOT remove the entire range back
panel.
6.3 Preparation for power connection
WARNING
Risk of Electric Shock or Fire. Grounding through the neu-
tral conductor is prohibited for new branch-circuit installa-
tions (1996 NEC), mobile homes, and recreational vehi-
cles, or in an area where local codes prohibit grounding
through the neutral conductor.
Where grounding through the neutral conductor is
prohibited:
¡ Disconnect the link from the neutral.
¡ Use grounding terminal or lead to ground unit.
¡ Connect neutral terminal to lead branch circuit neutral in
the usual manner. When the appliance is to be con-
nected by means of a cord kit, use a 4-conductor cord
for this purpose.
