Operation
(Standard: REF 750045 / 750044 / 730014 / 464004)
Installing and Removing Burs: Quiet-air (REF 730014/464004)
Quiet-air handpieces accept regular friction grip (FG) burs.
To use bur wrench: Insert square pin of bur wrench through
large opening in stator cap until it engages square socket in
the chuck. Fit the round wrench pins into two of the three
matching corner slots in the stator cap. Turn upper knurled
section of the wrench counterclockwise to open the chuck,
clockwise to tighten.
Do not tighten chuck without bur installed.
Do not operate handpiece without bur installed and
properly secured in chuck. These conditions could possibly damage chuck and cause bur ejection
and/or chuck ejection. Bur or chuck ejection could cause patient injury.
To install a bur: Open chuck. Insert bur all the way into
the chuck. If taper of bur drops below top of head, pull it out
slightly, as shown, and tighten chuck. Do not extend bur
any further (read warnings). Make sure bur is
secure before operating handpiece.
Note: Tightening chuck with bur taper buried in the
head will damage the chuck, resulting in a loss of
concentricity and gripping ability.
Note: Use of oral surgical length burs could possibly result in handpiece bearing failure or
personal injury due to bur ejection, bent burs, or inadequate cooling.
To remove bur: Insert the bur wrench into stator cap. Give knurled portion of wrench 1/2 turn
counterclockwise, then remove bur.
Operation
(Push Button: REF 790045 / 790044)
Never operate the handpiece under the following conditions:
1. In the presence of a soft tissue wound.
2. With a bur extended out from handpiece head.
3. Under "no load" conditions for extended periods of time.
4. At air pressure exceeding 35 p.s.i. (2.4 Atm.).
5. With a loose or bent bur.
To operate the handpiece: Simply depress the foot control on your dental unit. For water spray and chip air,
refer to dental unit instructions.
Push Button
The Push Button Chucking System of your new Tradition•PB handpiece accepts regular friction grip (FG) burs
and short shank (SS) burs.
Installing and Removing Burs
To install a bur: Insert the bur into the handpiece until you meet resistance. Now press the button and push
the bur all the way into the chuck until it stops.
Make sure bur is secure before operating handpiece.
To remove bur: Push the button to open chuck; then remove bur.
Note: The water spray will adequately cover bur and diamond cutting instruments up to .906 inches
(23 mm) long.
See Maximum Recommended Bur Length and Warning Information At Top Of Next Column.
