Operation
Refer to Fig. II on page 19 for an overview of the
system.
Welding torches provided with an extraction nozzle must be
connected to the central extraction duct.
The extracted welding fume passes a spark arrester
(SparkTrap) before it reaches the filter cartridges inside the
unit. The filtered air is blown back into the workshop by the
outlet on top of the fan.
2.2.1
Control
The system is operated by a rotary switch (on/off) on the
control panel.

2.2.2
Filter cleaning
The filter cartridges are cleaned one by one by compressed air
pulses. The dust and dirt particles are collected in the dustbin
underneath the unit. Depending on the PLC setting, cleaning
takes place both online and offline
Online filter cleaning
The first pulse takes place immediately after the fan starts
running. After each 30 minutes of running time of the system,
one of the filter cartridges is cleaned by a compressed air
pulse. The filter cartridges are cleaned alternately.
Offline filter cleaning
As soon as the system is switched off due to the weekly timer
setting, an offline cleaning cycle starts. During this cycle, each
filter cartridge is cleaned by two compressed air pulses with an
interval of 30 minutes per pulse.
2.2.3
Pressure relief valve
I
The fan housing is provided with an adjustable relief valve to
control excess pressure in the system.
