Reason: The electrical insulation of the titanium anode is no longer sufficient,
e.g. as a result of incorrectly installed or worn-out sealing material (use the
original seal only). In this case, the anode is shorted to the tank ground: the
protective current becomes practically zero.

7. Wrong polarity of connecting cables
Inspection: Check the polarity by making the measurements described in
chapter 9.2.3. See also the respective information in chapter 7 concerning
socket mounting and insulated-hole mounting.
Remedial action: re-establish the correct polarity.
Reason: During normal operation, the positive potential „Plus (+)" is connected
with the anode and the negative potential „Minus (-)" with the tank.
8. Connecting cable open circuit
Inspection: Check the connecting cable; measurements to be made see chap-
ter 9.2.1 and 9.2.2.
Remedial action: Replace the connecting cable, using only the original con-
necting cable for CORREX
Note: If the fault cannot be rectified with these measures, contact immediately
the tank manufacturer or the distributor.
9.2 Measurements
The analysis of faults is facilitated by the measurements described below.
Any deviations from the specified nominal values are a sign that the system
has been installed in a way that is incompatible with proper functioning of the
system.
Note: For checking, a digital multimeter or the anode tester CorroScout
are needed.
1. Measuring the drive potential
Procedure: Set the instrument switch to the 20 V DC range. Connect the
positive probe of the instrument to the anode and the negative one to the
storage tank.
Nominal value: Minimum + 2.3 V DC. Depending on the conductivity of the
water, drive potentials in the range between 2.3 and about 5 V are normal
- these figures are approximate values. Higher drive potentials are possible
when the water has a very low conductivity.
