4.2 Shear blade assembly

The set of shearing blades consists of a lower blade and an upper blade When assembling the shearing
blades make sure that the correct surfaces come into contact with each other. The blades are assembled as
follows: Loosen the shearing pressure adjusting screw, remove it with the compression spring and place the
shearing machine on a hard surface so that the blade fastening screw comes to rest at the top. Now remove
the two old blades. Make sure that the two new blades are clean. Ensure in particular that the ground sur-
faces are free from dirt, otherwise a satisfactory shearing result cannot be achieved even with newly ground
shearing blades. Apply one or two drops of oil to the guide surfaces and place the upper blade around the
sliding block and guide bolt. Then apply a few more drops of oil to the ground surfaces of the shearing
blade. Now place the lower blade on the upper blade so that the two drilled holes are guided through the
guide pins. It is now important that the blades come to lie one upon the other so that the ground surface
of the lower blade projects approx. 1.5 - 2.0 mm above the tips of the upper blade. As soon as you have
adjusted the shearing blades, guide the blade fastening screw through the two blades, turn the shearing
machine around and assemble the compression spring and the shearing pressure adjusting screw. Now set
the adjusting screw.
4.3 Resharpening the blades
Resharpening shear blades correctly is only possible with special machines and by the
specialised trade. Only use sharp shear blades. Defective blades with broken off teeth or
blunt blades must be replaced.

4.4 Storing the clipper

Between clippings always keep the well-cleaned and lubricated clipper in the supplied case in a dry locati-
on, which is not accessible to children. Do not switch the machine on, if you suspect that liquids could have
entered. There is danger of an electric shock or short-circuit. Have the machine serviced!

4.5 Cleaning the clipper head

Clean the clipper head after a few days use. Dismantle the cutter plates. Release both screws and remove
the clipper head from the drive unit. Now clean the interior of the clipper head and the other components
thoroughly with a brush and a paintbrush. Lubricate the clipper head according to 3.3 after careful assembly.
