this chapter covers matters regarding operator safety. Before using the extractor Fan special at-
tention should be paid to the contents of the following pages.
2.1

general safety considerations

Inside its guards, the Extractor Fan contains particularly hazardous moving parts, so the necessary safety
precautions and measures must never be neglected.
The relevant safety precautions are referred to in all sections of the manual and it is COMPULSORY to use
personal production equipment (PPE), especially when its use is referred to in the instructions.
Accidents are more likely during non-scheduled procedures (e.g. during a repair after an unplanned stop-
page of the Extractor Fan) or when people are overtired, distracted or under the influence of drugs or
alcohol; workers in these conditions must be taken off the job AT ONCE.
Do not operate the Extractor Fan or work on its parts unless you have first read all operating instructions
carefully; carelessness and laziness may cause even very serious accidents.
Maintenance etc. operations must always be carried out by skilled staff.

The list of hazards that follows draws attention to safety factors which Extractor Fan users must bear in
mind. Before using the Extractor Fan operators must read the instructions provided with care.
GENERAL HAZARD
To be taken into account particularly during all operations of moving and positioning the extractor fan
and generated by non-compliance with instructions or tampering with gears which can cause serious
damage to people.
ENTANGLEMENT HAZARD
Staff are in the vicinity of Extractor Fan parts or elements which may move even suddenly, creating en-
trainment and entanglement hazards for the operator. For reasons of personal safety, operators are urged
to wear suitable clothing and in particular not to wear necklaces, bracelets, or any other object that could
become entangled in the Extractor Fan's moving parts.
GEAR WHEEL HAZARD
Removing the guards and safety devices when the Extractor Fan is running is forbidden.
