Unpacking – Preparations prior to the first ride
After its production, your bike has gone through comprehensive quality and
safety checks. However, both handlebars and pedals have to be loosened
prior to packaging in order to bring them into a transport-ready position.
EN
The following points must be carried out with utmost care
and all screws have to be fastened with the necessary
torque. Danger of accident!
Should you have bought your bike at one of our dealers, the following
operations will have already been carried out for you.
1. If you received your bike in its packaging, please ensure that the arrows
on the box are pointing upwards.
All delivery companies are required to ensure that the
i
arrows on the box are pointing upwards at all times during
the transport. Make sure to check for dirt stains, scratch
marks etc. on the upper side of the box, maybe indicating
an upside-down transport. Should this be the case, please
do not hesitate to contact Schindelhauer Bikes or one of
our dealers and have your bike checked for any possible
transport damage.
2. After you have taken your bike out of the box and have familiarized
yourself with the manual, carefully remove all cushioning and packaging
materials.
3. Make sure that both screws on the stem (cf. fig. 0) are loosened. Turn
the handlebar approx. 90° into its "going-straight" position. The stem
and front tire should be aligned.
28
Never use your Schindelhauer Bike if the protective sheet
around the handlebar is still in place (fig. 0). Before riding
your bike for the first time, this sheet has to be removed!
4. Slightly fasten screw 1 (fig. 0) in order to adjust the bearing play (~
1-3 Nm).
5. Then fasten screw 2 with the stated torque (page 42).
6. In order to remove the protective sheet from the handlebar (fig. 1),
loosen the four screws of the stem cap evenly, pull the sheet to the side
and carefully cut it open. Bring the handlebar to the correct position and
tighten the screws on the stem cap uniformly with the stated torque
(page 42).
7. Screw the pedals, with the supplied paste, to the crank arms (fig. 2) and
fasten them with the stated torques (page 42).
Please be aware that the right pedal has a right-hand
!
thread and the left pedal a left-hand thread. The pedals
also have marking on their axles (fig. 3).
8. Set the correct saddle height for your needs.
9. Rule of thumb: saddle height = inseam length incl. shoes (inner leg
length) x 0.85.
