READ AND FOLLOW
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS!
This is the safety alert symbol. When you
see this symbol on your pump or in this
manual, look for one of the following signal words
and be alert to the potential for personal injury.
warns about hazards that will
cause serious personal injury, death or major prop-
erty damage if ignored.

The label NOTICE indicates special instructions
which are important but not related to hazards.
Carefully read and follow all safety instructions in
this manual and on pump.

GENERAL SAFETY

To avoid serious injury and/or property damage, read
and follow these rules and instructions carefully.
Meet National Electrical Code or Canadian
Electrical Code (as applicable) and local
codes for all wiring.
To reduce the risk of electrical
shock, use only on portable self-contained foun-
tains no larger than 5 feet in any direction.
Risk of electrical shock.
1.
Pump is supplied with a grounding conductor
and a 3-prong grounding-type attachment plug.
To reduce the risk of electrical shock, be cer-
tain that it is connected only to a properly
grounded, 3-prong, grounding type receptacle.
2. Do not handle the pump with wet hands or when
standing on a wet or damp surface. If the cord,
plug, or receptacle are wet, disconnect power to
the receptacle before unplugging the unit.
3. Do not operate the pump unless it is properly
grounded.
4. The National Electric Code requires installation
of a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) in
the circuit
supplying fountain pumps and other pond
equipment. Purchase one at your local electri-
cal supply dealer.
5. Check all local codes pertaining to indoor
ponds/fountains. You must comply with their rules.
6. This pump is designed for use only with clean,
fresh, water. Do not use it to pump salt water or
corrosive, abrasive, or flammable liquids. The

7. Before connecting the pump, make sure that the
cord and pump are not damaged.
8. The cord and plug are not repairable or replace-
able. If they are damaged, replace the whole
pump.
9. Use the pump only for the purposes for which it
was designed (e.g., pond use, waterfall use, etc.).
10. To prevent accidental drips from
getting the plug or receptacle
wet, loop the cable as shown in
Figure 1.
11. Keep this unit away from
children.
12. Never run the pump dry.
Running it dry can damage the motor and will
void the warranty.
13. A 1 amp circuit breaker must be installed in the
circuit supplying the pump.
14. This pump must be used only indoors in the
applications for which it was designed.
Installation
1. Insert the suction cups (6) in their sockets in the
screen (5).
2. Thoroughly clean the surface to which you are
going to mount the pump.
3. Press the pump against the cleaned mounting
surface to attach it.
4. For proper operation the water must be at least
3/4" (2 cm) deep.
5. Connect discharge hose.
6. Plug pump into properly grounded receptacle.
7. Check system for leaks.
Operation and Regulation
Slide the regulator (4) on the front of the pump (2)
to the right as you face it to reduce flow. Slide it to
the left to increase flow.
Maintenance
1. Unplug the pump.
2. Slide the pump out of its bracket (which will stay
attached to its mounting surface with suction
cups).
3. Remove the pump (2) from the suction screen (5).
4. Remove the impeller lid with its regulator (4).
5. Take out the rotor (3) and rinse it under running
water.
6. Reassemble the pump by reversing steps 3, 4,
and 5.
7. Replace the pump in the bracket and plug it in to
resume operation.
