INSTALLATION
NOTE
The 278 series Temperature Controls have been de-
signed for use with F12-3049 Control Case and F61-2280
Plate Assembly only. Therefore the F12-3049 Case As-
sembly must be already installed.
NEW AND REPLACEMENT INSTALLATION
CAUTION
Care should be taken so as not to damage the
capillary tubing while inserting capillary and bulb
into conduit. Do not kink capillary.
WARNING
Do not dent or bend the sensing bulb as this will
change the control calibration.

THERMAL DATA
Range: 75°F to 140°F (24°C to 60°C) in 240° arc
Diff: 1.5°F (1°C)
Capillary Length: 278-12 – 12 ft., 278-18 – 18 ft.
Bulb Size: 3/8" x 3"
ACCESSORIES:
Control Case W.R. Part No. F12-3049.
Temperature Adjustment Knob W.R. Part No. F42-0901.
Plate Assembly W.R. Part No. F61-2280.
1. Remove Temperature Control from packaging and
carefully unroll capillary tubing. Check that the control
capillary is correct length for installation.
2. To ease in installing bulb/capillary in to conduit apply
wire pulling lubricant to bulb before inserting in to
conduit. (See Fig. 1).
3. Continue inserting capillary in to conduit until Tem-
perature Control can be placed into control box without
excessive capillary in control box.
WARNING
Total capillary tubing must be inserted into con-
duit. Excessive capillary play may short to line
voltage. Short will damage control and cause
shock or fire hazard.
4. Align control bracket mounting holes with mounting
holes of control box. And secure with thread forming
screws supplied.
SETTING THE DIAL
1. Turn control dial by slot in dial shaft to full "CCW"
(counter clockwise). This is the "OFF" position of the
control. The "OFF" Position is a positive "Off", breaking
both sides of the line (see Fig. 2).
