Possible cause
The fastener missed the steel beam.
The wrong piston has been fitted.
The piston is worn.
Fastener driven into the rib of the
beam.
Different thickness and/or strength of
supporting material.
Fastener driving power is too low.
The tool needs to be cleaned.
The piston is worn.
The tool is damaged.
The wrong piston has been fitted.
The tool was pressed against the
working surface with a jolt.
The tool is cycled unevenly, some-
times not fully.
Irregular driving power.
The face of the piston is worn or
chipped.
Fastener driven into the rib of the
beam.
The supporting material is thicker
and/or of higher strength.
The piston sticks in the piston stop-
per.
The tool is badly fouled with dirt and
residues.
Remedy
Mark the position of the beam. Drive
another fastener into the beam.
Check to ensure that the sheet rests
tightly against the supporting mater-
ial.
Check that the right piston / fastener
combination is used.
Change the piston and piston stop-
per.
Drive a second fastener.
Increase fastener driving power in
accordance with recommendations
or, respectively, use a more powerful
cartridge.
Increase fastener driving power in
accordance with recommendations
or, respectively, use a more powerful
cartridge.
Clean the tool.
Change the piston and piston stop-
per.
Contact Hilti.
Check that the right piston / fastener
combination is used.
Press the tool against the working
surface smoothly and avoid jolting.
Cycle the tool fully.
Clean the tool. Replace wearing parts
with new parts. Contact Hilti if irregu-
lar driving power is still experienced.
Change the piston and piston stop-
per.
Drive a second fastener beside the
first one.
Check that the recommended type
of fastener is used. If the right type
of fastener is used, increase driv-
ing power in accordance with cart-
ridge recommendations or use a more
powerful cartridge.
Change the piston and piston stop-
per.
Clean the piston guide. Check the
straightness of the piston.
Clean the tool.
