• The depth of the blade and the levers for locking the adjustment level at an angle must be tight and
checked before starting the cut. If the blade adjustment moves during the cut, it can cause the blade to
bend and kickback to occur.
• Adopt extra precautions during a plunging cut in the existing walls or in other blind areas. The part of the
blade slicking out can cut objects which can cause kickback.
Extra safety instructions valid for all saws with oscillating internal guard
• Always check the lower guard is closed properly before use. Do not operate the saw if the lower guard
does not move freely and does not close again instantly. Never lock or clamp the lower guard in the
open position. If the saw falls accidentally, the lower guard can bend. Lift it with the retraction handle
and ensure that it moves freely and doesn't touch the blade or any other part, with any angle and for
any cutting depth.
• Check the operation of the lower guard spring. If the guard or the spring are not working correctly, they
must be fixed before use. The lower guard can work slowly due to damaged parts, rubber deposits or
accumulations of sawdust.
• The lower guard should only be retracted manually for special cuts, such as plunging cuts or cuts on a
slope. Lift the guard by retracting the handle and, as soon as the blade enters the material, the guard
must be released. For all other saws, the lower guard must operate automatically.
• Always check that the lower guard is covering the blade before resting the saw on the bench or the floor.
An unprotected blade, in rotation by inertia, could cause the saw to move backwards, cutting everything
it finds in its path. Observe the necessary time for the blade to stop after releasing the switch.
